wattles!! if you ever want to do a proper let's play of these old versions but you're worried about getting too bored or not having enough blocks to build with, id highly recommend playing Better than Adventure, it's a mod for 1.7.3 that tries to keep the vanilla vibe but with some modern qol changes and more building blocks. I'd love to see a youtuber as big as you make a video on it!

Beta 1.7.3 is the main version i play. Its not because of nostalgia anymore. I just love the simplicity, lower standards for builds etc. I still play modern versions occasionally if i want to play with friends

Honestly with how complex the game is now I get so focused on enchanting, fighting the ender dragon, overthinking what block pallette to use for a build, and then burn out. Something about the limited blocks and mobs that makes it feel like a post apocalyptic survival game where all traces of society are gone. Something you spend a couple hours surviving in and then get off. I do remember when xbox minecraft first started, when I wasn't so worried about beautiful builds and just messed around with my friends on split screen. We used to play hunger games, you had 30 minutes to build a base and then fight to the death.

​@@zircon256uaI still play the newer versions but there are many reasons not to: 1) Copper bulb/Crafter change for worse just because of the need of parity with the trash bedrock ticks system "random ticks for random mc redstone blocks btw, redstone on bd is down bad" 2) Lack of content on the updates "This isnt mojang's fault as this was stated many times that the april fools updates are amazing just because the developers have more freedom on what to do as microsoft nowadays has a huge bureaucracy for not changing the core game too much bc they are scared" 3) Fps 4) Bad changes that no one asked just like the villager trade rework and the netherite upgrade change that straight of just killed superplane world survival. 5) Bad mob votes. "Imagine being hyped for a armor on your pet in a game for a entire year" 💀 Old Minecraft >>>>>>>>> New Minecraft. I still have a hardcore world on the new version but I play more hypixel and old Minecraft with mods.

I started a beta 1.7.3 world a couple of hours ago, quite a coincidence I must say, I thought it was nostalgia at first, but I actually think this version is better than modern ones. It all comes to SIMPLICITY. There's only like 20 blocks, no hunger, no villages/wandering traders/pillagers. It feels completely different. For now, I surprisingly prefer the older version... Even though I hadn't played it before. So i doubt it's nostalgia

I like how this version has Achievements so it's possible to "beat" the game by doing All Achievements. Been watching some speed runs of that....wish it had an achievement related to going into the Nether but weirdly doesn't

There's more to Beta than just nostalgia. There's a reason why people still play their Beta worlds for years without resetting. There are a few good videos on that topic. You should check them out if you want to experience true Beta pace and gameplay loop without even comparing it to modern.

It’s the fact you can do what minecraft was meant for. Mining and building. The colors artistically fit better no matter what blocks you used. The less is more is very true when it comes to a creative game like minecraft. It’s one of the first open worlds in the truest sense. You make the goals and adventure. Now minecraft is full of mini goals trying to be like terraria. So when you do “beat” minecraft it feels empty. When it was always empty and you had to make your own fun. It’s literally legos.

it makes me so happy that beta is starting to become more recognized. i personally prefer beta 1.7.3 over newer versions of the game due to the simplicity and limited block pallet. beta 1.7.3 was the version i found minecraft on and started playing. idk, something about it just hits home for me

beta is good for these reasons: no hunger, no sprint, no enchantments, no beacons, no end (nor enderdragon), no potions effects, no useless blocks, much better performance, no random structures, no elytra, no villagers, no economy, no shield, mobs were actually dangerous. I'm sure there are more, but you get why beta is still a great version, it's the real Minecraft as it was intended to be.

Btw I think when we got the bogged mob into the game, it would be very cool when Mojang adds Mossy skeletron too into the game who will shoot you by using wekness arrows and spawn in jungle biome as well

I think for what it is, i think people miss that simplicity and less bloated feel of new minecraft has. The new stuff is great, don’t get me wrong, but the feeling of the old world gen, the textures, and gameplay, no random boss to make feel like beating it means it’s over, it feels more what it really was, a block game and the only goal was your imagination. In a way reminds of how people wanted wow classic over retail wow- history repeats itself doesn’t, it besides the game difference

I started playing back in 1.2.1 so never got to experience the betas fully, although before getting the full version I had the PC Gamer minecraft demo and got to experience the beta version then. My brothers and I found a way to cheese the demo so even when the time expired we could keep the world how it was previously. Those were the days

People always talk about the Better Than Adventure mod that adds modern Minecraft features into beta. They say it’s what Minecraft should have been. I kind of agree. But I think there should be a mod that instead adds beta features into modern Minecraft. It adds back the old lighting, textures and sounds (they should them back but make them toggable in the settings.) and also changes some features to make them feel more classic. New mobs will have drops and they won’t worry on animal cruelty. And stuff like that. Showing that modern Minecraft is good, but can be better. Edit: I’m just realizing. Does that mean that Notch ruined the game before Microsoft even bought Minecraft?

This video has taught me a few things… I apparently use a texture pack to revert the textures to this version of the game and forgot I installed it. I thought nightmares were still in the game (I always build a shelter around my bed because of them).

the minecraft beta caves are actually better than the pre 1.18 caves, basically beta 1.8 smoothed out everything, including caves, in beta 1.7.3, caves mix together and clash and can become pretty big, but in beta 1.8 they added a code that would prevent caves from clashing and create jaggedness

This version was so beautiful I found a valley with surrounding walls high enough to keep mobs out I light it up and there was 1 circular hole in the valley wall I blocked up with glass as a window and built a tower in the center of the valley to watch the sun set from.

1.12.2 in my opinion is the best for me cause this the version I played Minecraft the most (started playing at 1.11). Not for mods but the vanilla version
