100 Days in Minecraft Beta 1.7.3

I've never done a 100 Days in Minecraft video before, let alone in Minecraft Beta 1.7.3, and I can say vehemently that it is harder than it looks. The amount of time that goes into the world, the script you have to write after, even the editing of the clips together from the copious amounts of raw footage, it all takes a certain kind of dedication which I've forced myself to gain over this last month.
This video combines this format with my love of what many call The Golden Age of Minecraft: Beta 1.7.3, and I hope you all enjoy the Beta 1.7.3 world tour and this nostalgic take on the 100 Days format...
I promised myself to get this video out before the end of 2023, and as I'm writing this description the morning of its release, I can safely say it was a very close call indeed. I'll see you all next year!

Lol that reminds me of the old trends of minecraft. Plane crash survival maps and jungle survival, or that prison map that countless people used and made series on and went on to be skydoesminecraft's main map for his cops and robbers series. The old OG flans mod server. Edit: I just thought about it. When I was on the flans mod server all those years back; a player today was born when i was playing and now they are playing minecraft. That really makes me feel old, and that I'm no longer a kid.

The way modern Minecraft KZbinrs who we shall not name has popularised the almost arcade-like “QUICK KILL THE ENDERDRAGON!!!!! FARM NETHERITE!!!! WIN WIN WIN!!” Format of Minecraft. Me too. It's a great mix of the simplicity of old Minecraft combined with some quality of life upgrades and a few new surprises. I also love that it doesn't have the distracting annoyances I don't like in new Minecraft like phantoms, villagers, too many structures, Endermen greifing the world until all the dirt blocks have holes everywhere...

Sometimes I avoid it by making the replacement tool early and then use a little bit of durability on that and combine them for the little bit of bonus durability

There's something so warm and nostalgic seeing what other can build in Beta MC, with just the dozen block types we were given back then. Most builds in modern MC are designed to be complex and look a lot more "busy" compared to the builds you'd get from Beta MC, where you'd see some variation in the block choices, but not by a lot like you see today. I feel like MC was great when it was simplistic. Sure I love current MC, but Beta always fills me with a much warmer glow and I'm always more interested in seeing player builds in MC than I am current MC.

Bro I wanna see 200 days cuz the only thing that makes this version playable is that you don’t focus on progress more rather thinking about what to build next to make your world looks better than it was hours before, the stone slabs prolly carried the entire old Minecraft building community and tbh this one stone slabby block is the icon of this version… looking forward more 100 days as it’s insanely good to watch especially when I am 10 years old (experienced) player I mean I played this game for over 10 years (now I’m close to 20 years old) I feel like this is how Minecraft should be played unlike thinking which type of stone you gonna use to make mega underground base in 1.20.4 it’s like bro I have oak wood and stone slabsans couple of torches, about to make masterpiece build that will never look bad no matter what matierials you will use.

Old Minecraft seems to have a hidden impact on the way we behave inside the game. Our approach to building and how we enjoy the game itself changes and is part of the reason why so many people are drawn to this older version of the game. Because it compels you to be creative and build structures to fulfil some fantasy compared with fulfilling some task of gathering the best items like enchanted armour etc, simply because there are no special items in this version of the game.

At 25:12 You get nightmares (Getting woken up by a mob) in beta 1.7.3 not by your light level, but if the nearby 2 blocks around the bed are blocks which mobs can spawn on. Which means there was most likely an empty set of blocks behind the wall that allowed monsters to spawn.

I stopped playing Minecraft in 2016 ish, I recently tried revisiting it a few months ago and I honestly hated it. Servers were way over the top and in your face with 100 different plug ins, and single player felt like I had 30 different mods permanently installed into my world that I didn’t want. Old servers I used to play on either no longer existed or they looked like they sold their soul to a corporation to make the most money possible. It’s a shame… I was a Beta player and I miss those days, but I’m glad I was able to be a part of it.

I remember discovering Minecraft back in 2010 from a series called "x's adventures in minecraft" I am not sure if anyone here has heard of it but every world I've had since then I would always create the famous "X Skylight 9000" and the Greenhouse david would build. this was such a good video to binge, even though I started playing Minecraft on 1.8.8 seeing the older textures and all the small things and the only 5 biome'd world is somehow more nostalgic to me more than 1.8.8 itself not only that but your soothing voice made video even better besides the relaxing gameplay. This is one of the best minecraft videos I've seen recently!! As I've gotten older I've begun to hate the highly edited and loud viral mc videos. They are definitely geared towards children but it hurts as someone who was once a child that LOVED Minecraft. This have to be one of the nicest beta builds i have ever seen, especially the bridge. Also about the cursed bed thing, the way this game spawns monsters while you sleep is rather weird but from what i understand it does that based on the bed's location, for example if you place it in a corner of the room, mobs shouldn't spawn (i think so at least).

I see lots of people saying that old Minecraft is liminal and lonely feeling. I think that’s what made the game great to begin with. Just you, your imagination, and a nearly infinite world. It motivates me to build something special more than new Minecraft does. There’s so much added to new Minecraft that I find myself wandering, and getting distracted more often. That’s not necessarily bad, they just feel like two different games.

i really miss all the creativity i used to have back then, with such a small amount of blocks to choose from to build, you could really appreciate what you built even from something so basic as stone blocks or old school netherrack. now it's all too overwhelming for me, lol. nontheless this video is great, i really appreciate the trip on memory lane dude :)
