This just got a whole lot easier now with Honey blocks. The vault door part can be done with four sticky pistons with honey and slime blocks. It's incredible how Mumbo still manages to do insane stuff even tho some of them gets way easier with new updates. Maybe not way easier but still easier. Like his 4x4 seemless hipster flush with the wall piston door.

You should build this in Hermitcraft as a two story door, with the top floor being glass so you can still see it in all of it's glory. The bottom solid floor uses the bottom half of the door. (the handle) The top glass floor uses the top half of the door. (the cup) That way you can use every aspect of the door.

I think on the next hermitcraft server, make a room for the spoon counter, and this is the door to access it. That'll give you some time to perfect the design a bit, and use it in a way that makes a lot of sense. I like the door a lot as well, except for how it is not very synchronous. Would be prettier if you delayed some of it, especially the handle of the spoon so that it opens at the same time as the part that was giving you trouble at the base of the spoony part in the middle.
