I’ve come up with a solution that works but needs some tweaking. Place another dispenser on top of the one shooting eggs and using redstone, place moss blocks above and for overhang, and make a path to a lever on the right side of the baby chicken glass cage. Flicking it twice will dispense a bucket of powdered snow and flicking it twice again will retract the powdered snow. This only takes 3 redstone dust and a lever to work. For lava to auto make cooked chicken, replace the wood near the lava with any non-flammable block and it works perfectly. And to prevent any chickens escaping the flight training, add another three layers down of double-sided trapdoors and they don’t have enough time or push to alter their flight path before they reach the bottom. I’ve tested it many times now in survival and it works. I took the principle of your cow farm and applied it here, so both aren’t much of a hassle.

To fix the chickens from escaping at the top, trap door the water column and break the spruce plank above the leaves. I also found 10 was too many 5 was pretty good. Building this in a spruce forest will make keeping chickens harder and youll need to make the walls for the bath 2 high so foxes cant get in

@@joewarren4858 The mechanics are a little different from this one. I looked for it on KZbin, options with lava, e.g. Madzify has such a video. So, where there is lava, I put glass (or you can put something else so it doesn't burn) and I made the entire building from this film.

One of the coolest spins on a basic chicken and egg farm. Love it. My fox seems to be a bit buggy, he only kills like 5-10 chickens then goes afk and seems to focus on the chickens behind him that he can’t reach. This causes the chickens to lay eggs into the cooked chicken chest and the dispenser eventually just starts ejecting hatchlings out of the farm, but for some reason the chicks just huddle around the farm.

Is the fox inside the minecart? The first test I did was without the minecart and had the same situation as yours. This is why I said it didnt work on Bedrock in the Java video... @@aJackMinecraft I think actually I won’t fix it. I have gotten accustomed to the chicks hanging around everywhere in little swarms and the fox is still killing chickens. I have 6 full stacks of chicken now, granted some is from me killing chickens and putting the feathers/cooked chicken in the chest. Also, one of the waterfall chickens landed on the spruce stairs at the midway point and is stuck, but he kinda reminds me of a rooster on a barn overlooking the farm.

@@indigobuffalo To fix it you have to take the fox out and put it back in inside the minecart. 😮‍💨 I think a chicken falling on top of the roof is a feature by accident. I like seeing one of them hanging there haha.

To stop them escaping, use the original pool, but make the wall like the revision but 2 high, and make the blocking wall of trap doors 3 deep, and finally, replace the side stairs in the pool with solid blocks. None will escape and they will spend less time in the pool.

Might need to make the pool wall corners 3 high. I've seen a few hit the edge by the lantern and then jump in. Still no escapes. Tried reducing the upper blocking wall to 2, but got one that got out with that, so it MUST be 3 deep.

Replacing the inside edge upper blocking trap doors with solid blocks significantly speeds up the flow of chickens back to the top. Far less appear to reach the edge of the wall. Still a few jumping off the inside edge into the pool, but none jumping out. Making the pool wall 3 high might make it 100%, but may not be necessary. More testing required and I'm not likely to remember to update this thread tomorrow.

@@Mackyy07 - Yes, but it looks quite a bit different from the video's version. The roof line needs to be extended across the gap. Behind it and above, wall it in with trap doors. Make the stone wall 2 high. Like this you will only see chickens get on the wall when the pool is so full they can jump off eachother. I've ran this setup since maybe a week after seeing this video and only have maybe 5 loose chickens across my whole island (which is huge). Oh, and I'm a madman, not a madam. :P

Basically change some of the wood into stone. Then place a bucket of lava at where the fox sit. That's it.

😁😁Yes @aJackminecraft is right. You have to change the fox with lava. I don't have fire spread on so I didn't need to change the blocks of the build I wanted to keep the aesthetics because I just love it. You have to put a slab in front of the dispenser. Chicks are half a block tall so they fit between the slab and the lava above, lava will not flow into the slab. When it dispenses chicken it will stay on that slab and when they grow they will burn in the lava above them. Then have a hopper minecart or a hopper below the slab for collection. hope this helps😁

I adore this build! I started a practice version of it in my test world and noticed that the fox won't pick up the sword. It happily picks up meat, feathers, and rabbit skins. Just not the sword. I switched to another untrusting fox and it still wouldn't work. Guessing this is a bug from the 1.20.60 update. I suppose I'll be waiting for a while before I can finish it. If anyone else has this issue, please let me know if and how you fixed it.

And I really asked myself why the fox is necessary because I know similar principles on chicken farms, they usually use a slap and a lava above it, there is exactly half a block of space between the two, enough for chicks, not enough for adults Chicken. But since you mainly use wood, I can see why it has to be a fox. ^^

My tutorials do not require any mod. I make both Java and Bedrock Tutorial and this video is for Bedrock. If you are playing on Java, remember to check the other chick farm video. We can't craft leaves block but we can harvest them. Find the trees / grow your trees and then use a shear or a hoe with Silk Touch to get leaves block.

G'day, I've recently gotten back into minecraft afer a few years and although bedrock unfortunately these designs are fascinating to watch and incorporate them into my world. Odd thought?: Do you believe that it would possibly be possible to merge most or if not all builds into a smol township like say find a village in a scenic location but build it up with most of these farms intertwined within said town? Which will result in it looking lived in.

I've encountered a couple of snags (Java), mostly due to the fox not managing to kill the chickens... they'll mostly die from overcrowding, because I kept getting raw chicken and eggs, but otherwise, the fox wouldn't do anything, I tried spawning a fox from an egg, and then abducting one from the forest

When those baby chickens grow up, the Fox will attack them with the sword in its mouth, getting us cooked meat (fire aspect 1 or 2) and more loot (looting 1,2 or 3). There should be a trapdoor in the attic where you can throw eggs. These eggs will then be dispensed by this cool egg auto shooter. You don’t need to restock anything, as long as you have eggs. Which is where the flight test part of the build comes in. The chickens will flow into the bubble column, and drop down into the water. The adult chickens will lay eggs, which will then go in the collection system. I don’t think I have ever had an issue where the fox dropped its sword, so I would say to continue to give it the sword . Usually they do that when there is raw chicken or something. Does your sword have fire aspect on it?

That pretty much sums up the entire mechanics of this build. There is a group of chicken behind the auto dispenser. They lay eggs and the eggs shoot out to the slab under the fox. The fox cant attack the baby chicken because there is a carpet in between. When the baby chicken grow to adult, its tall enough to let fox to attack it. All the items are picked up by the hopper minecart immediately so the fox wont pick up the meat and drop the sword. In Java, you dont have to worry if the chest and hopper minecart are full. The items stay under the carpet and fox cant pick that up. For Bedrock, I actually havent tested that.

Hello! I play on a realm and currently the foxes both wild and tamed through breeding won't pick up any swords... They will eat chicken and berries, and pick up most blocks, but I'm struggling with the swords. Can you please let me know if there might be a bug currently, or if I'm doing something incorrectly perhaps? Thank you very much, and happy holidays!!
