I think you missed the point, with the two involved going for revenge for Thomas's death it lead to more death. Showing that revenge doesn't have to be cruel. Revenge could simply be just calling the police like what Chad wanted to do/eventually did. Chad is the example of how to successfully get vengeance/justice compared to the other 2 characters (avoided names for spoilers)
