Hey! I followed your tutorial to add a custom trim but can't get it to work unfortunately. Could you maybe put the data pack and resource pack you made in this tutorial in the description so I can work off that? The example data pack also doesn't work for me... I mean, I can't get the example trimmed armor texture.

Unfortunately I don't have the world/file anymore, I've just tried the pack and seems to be working fine. If you try it before editing anything you should be able to craft the example by using a barrier block in both slots of the smithing table. Other than that you can look at my other data pack www.planetminecraft.com/data-pack/runechant-a-new-world-to-discover-beta-release-made-for-current-snapshot/ though its quite large but does have custom trims in it. Otherwise you could send me stuff on discord and I can help you troubleshoot

So prior to 1.20.5 it would be /give @a minecraft:x{tag:{Trim:{material:"minecraft:y",pattern:"minecraft:z"}} or with components /give @a minecraft:x[minecraft:trim={material:"minecraft:y",pattern:"minecraft:z"}] x being the item y the pattern name z the material name

How did you get the netherite armor layout? All I could find is the PNG of the item

can you assign custom values to the armor like better protection or some effects?

with some extra steps you can check a players inventory to see if x trim is equipped but nothing straight forward as just assigning new armor values

Can you change the models of the armor worn by the player ?

hmm not sure if this answers your question but you can either re-texture them with a resource pack or through trims apply a top layer masking the original armor, however that mean the texture must cover every pixel the base armor has
