Great tutorial! I ended up building this in the new survival world my kids and I started this weekend and had a slight issue with the villagers not sleeping ever so if you went away, golems would stop spawning. To solve this, I put an inverted daylight sensor on the roof that would close the trap door, allowing them to sleep and then they would panic in the morning again for as long as I stay close by.
@TheTheodorGabriel2 жыл бұрын
Just built this in a creative world to test. I get lots of glow squid spawning in the water, but so far no golems. The villagers are sleeping at night, and I’m sure there’s no other place the golems could be spawning because it is a flat world. I had a few spawn outside as I was building before I had spawn-proofed everything, but now…nothing. I’ve had no golems actually spawn inside the kill chamber. This a great looking build, so I’m hoping I can get it to work. EDIT: I think the roof clearance in the spawning chamber was the issue. Just built the whole thing three blocks taller and it seems to be working better now. Thanks Avo for the ideas!
@muurrarium94602 жыл бұрын
Oh...I will try this in my one block sky block-world! :) Thanks for the idea. My chamber is 4 blocks high, but no golem-spawns (except a few accidental ones outside) Building up is the easiest thing for me (going down...is kind of lethal... at least for now, I am too clumsy!).
@Mendanbar2 жыл бұрын
This is 100% part of the solution. I was baffled when the golems were spawning perfectly while I was building, but then stopped once everything was finished. Mine were spawning in the kill chamber but only before I put the roof on. I just removed the roof from the golem spawning area in my build, and now it's creating them like clockwork. FYI I also moved the trapdoor between the zombie and the villagers from the top to the bottom of the window and made it flap open/closed with a redstone timer. I don't know if that will help it keep running, but so far it isn't hurting.

So I built this iron farm step by step identical down to the exact same blocks used. I then put a roof on the zombie and villager chambers. I covered every block with a bottom slab except for directly above the water. The farm is working great. I then head off to build a rail system from my house to my iron farm and go mining for gold for my powered rails only to come back 2 hours later and there are only 42 iron and 16 poppies in the chest. What the...??? The entire farm is inside of my spawn chunks and should be loaded and running at all times, but it doesn't. I really liked the idea of not having a huge eyesore looming above, but I guess I am going back to Wattles design. At least that one always works.

This looks great and super easy. My question is does it have to be 3 villagers so that the iron golem spawns and would more villagers cause more spawns. Love teh way you spruced up the building itself and made it fit in with no issues. You said not in a village or villagers. I am guessing that you could use it in a city build but would the other beds (interior bits) also cause issues if in range? Again great video and loving all the avoverse and tutorial videos.😄☕

Is it possible these don't work anymore in 1.19.4? Edit : Answer, no, it doesn't work anymore, but it's easy to fix. Just add three solid blocks close to the opposite wall from the lava/pit, add as second leaf water combo peaking through the wall next to the first one and remove the roof not right on top of the new blocks you placed inside, but on top of the 3 blocks in front of it (on top of the new flowing water you placed). The golems will spawn kinda in between two blocks and still get drawn down by the water.

If anyone knows how to fix this problem, please let me know because it took a long time to get all the materials and build the farm. Thank you. EDIT: Iron golems can only spawn under natural sun/moonlight (I belive they did this so they wouldn't spawn inside houses) so when you build your roof, replace the 3 blocks the iron golems spawn under with glass.

Can you use bottom slaps under water if you want to build this on an Island wich is smaller than the 21x21? I think I will try to modify the design a bit, that I can put in workstations and access to the villagers for trading. Smithing tables and blast furnaces to be able to get emeralds from the Iron on the spot and also make the whole building look like some kind of foundry. Probably exposing the lava blade with iron bars or something like that. This design gave me so much inspiration. Thank you so much

Hi and thanks for all the videos, I am a fairly new player and enjoying the game. My question is "how close to a village can you build this farm", I am thinking of building it in the spawn chunk so that it is loaded all the time?
@elhuracanhumano19972 жыл бұрын
no soham is wrong, -a village have a 32 cube radius and any other bed or villager in that space is considarated part of the village, do not put any bed in that radius or the "village" will expand their area -consider that EACH village has that radius so two villages (villager breeders, or in this case iron farms) must be 64 blocks apart sadly that's exactly a chunk so no no more that one village per chunk - but you can put two iron farms in the near or your home(more than 32 block apart of your bed) and in no time you will have enogh iron for whatever, like i went afk an hour and got more than a stack of iron BLOCKS
@Fuzzi974 Жыл бұрын
If you move the golems out of the spawn volume and make them fall, then you can use entity cramming to get the iron, no lava needed. That's what I do. Once the farm is full, it makes less noise. No that I hear them anyway when I'm not going down to get the loots.

Okay so I know your super busy but I would really really appreciate if you could answer a question for me. So I built this exactly as you have, and it was working lovely, but then I'm not sure what happened. I put bushes in front of the walls on the golem chamber, next to the one you placed and surrounded them with signs (for decor). Then I put a dirt block in front of all three windows on the zombie chamber, and one in front of the villager chamber windows ,surrounded by trapdoors and with a flower on the dirt block. Lastly I put extinguished campfires above all the windows and gates in front of the windows on the golem chamber. The farm then quit working. I have went into spectator mode and made sure no golems are spawning in caves underneath or anywhere else. I put a sticky piston in to be able to let the villagers get a night of sleep and lastly I tried restart the game. However it still is not working. If you have any ideas on how to fix it or what might be the problem I would greatly appreciate it! Keep on doing what your doing love the videos and the tutorials! I didn't put a roof on it, so golems do spawn. I have tried everything to fix the golems spawn and getting stuck and I just can't get it to work. Actually jai yes it would... however, you would need to make sure that your villagers were paired with workstations and beds they could "access" or it wont work

I built this whole ass thing after typing in ‘iron farm bedrock edition’ then it doesn’t work and i then see in the small print… java. Dudeeeee. I dont even understand how it just wont work for a different edition like what are even the differences. Can someone explain
@PippetWhippet2 жыл бұрын
Bedrock edition has very different requirements for Iron Golem spawning. You need a large number of villagers - forgive me, I'm working from memory, but I think it's 10, and even more beds - maybe as high as 20. Not only do the villagers need to sleep but they also need to have worked as well at their workstations. As for why they differ so drastically, I assume different teams with a common feature set but slightly differing ideas about game design. The Java team seem to focus on allowing villages to remain as stable as possible, so they don't collapse the moment a player arrives in the vicinity, while the Bedrock team seem to want small villages to be destroyed while larger flourish. Or maybe someone just didn't update the old algorithm to the new!! It's all speculation!

I built this farm in my spawn chunks but it still only works when I'm close to it, spawn chunks are supposed to be loaded all the time right? Anything helps.
@Avomance2 жыл бұрын
They should be, yes. Are your spawn chunks where you think they are? Sometimes they are a few chunks to one or other direction than you think.
@darcyglavine58602 жыл бұрын
easiest way to find out.. is if you arent on hardcore, destroy your bed and kill yourself... sometimes your spawn isnt exactly where you think it is... (like Avomance said)

how do i stop the villagers from hiding in the corners out of sight of the zombie? they keep hiding and not being afraid which stops the farm from working

I broke the corners, and expanded the zombie part one block each side. So now i have a open area of 3 blocks so villagers can't hide, also put 3 zombies in the cell, hope it helps, worked for me.

@@Nazgrull86 yea that's what we ended up doing. We still only have one zombie but the zombie can see them everywhere so now it's working. I'm not sure if it's that or something else but the farm seems to be working faster than a pervious one that I built

I have been out of game a bit. Can you place a village breeder near this? Like say underground?
@nthingtoofear2 жыл бұрын
No. Not unless it's completely spawn proofed. Highly recommend not putting villagers near an iron farm regardless.
@MommaSkelly2 жыл бұрын
I think the villager Breeder needs to be about 65 blocks away (70 just to be safe) because it needs to be a "Separate Village". That way you don't have the golems spawning at your breeder instead of Iron Farm where you want them.

do u need to AFK at that farm, or does it work while u are out exploring?

Depends on where you build it. The worlds spawn-chunks will always be loaded and you should always build your farms there, but anywhere else you gotta afk by it.
