Any game that features a a gun is just pixels, vertecies, virtual objects on a screen. The Minecraft Marketplace is hosted and curated by Mojang. They may not be the ones who made the content. But they are profiting off them none the less. And more so from people they approve of selling content that their EULA prohibits if done by third parties. Meaning, if you make a gun mod. You are not allowed to profit off it. But if you got it on the marketplace, you can, as long as Mojang gets a cut of the sales. Let that sink in.

You mentioned EU only, but the UK has kept lots of the EU's consumer protection laws since leaving. So this will also affect those in the UK as well as EU, and any other country with similar consumer protection laws (similar as in laws that would actually affect this case)

Possibly, but since Brexit is so recent, we could see the UK's consumer protection laws change in the time between now and the resolution of the lawsuit. Either way though, this lawsuit wouldn't result in payments to UK citizens since it's being filed with courts of the EU - at least, that's how I understand it. However, a ruling in favor of Kian would set a good precedent for a UK citizen to start a lawsuit of their own.

This is a perfect reason why companies should never force users to migrate their accounts. Convenience can be money maker and they clearly don't realize that by having more ways to log into a game, more people will be able join and access it. By driving out the many potential customers, the company is only setting themselves up for a loss. No I'm not an economist and I never plan to be. I just watch videos like this and observe things from my life while pointing out a pattern that just leads to common sense. If you can't treat your customers and employees with respect, then your business will inevetably fail. It's also called karma, cause and effect, and basic human decency which these companies can't seem to grasp. It's just utterly dissappointing how dense and uncaring these companies are.

I hate to be annoying but since we're in a wave of giving Minecraft players a voice finally, early last year, my minecraft/microsoft account was hacked, and I lost my vanilla and migrator capes. The username was 'Beany_Beans', it was changed to 'Perfectdheud' or something like that, you can see the skin change when it was hacked on nameMC, I tried to get help from mojang support and microsoft support dozens of times, I lost my windows 10 edition and java edition accounts, my two capes, and the probably hundreds of dollars I'd spent on the marketplace. Every time I contacted mojang support, they'd tell me only Microsoft support could help, Microsoft support would tell me that XBOX support would help, and XBOX support kept sending me to Mojang, who still wouldn't help. I lost the minecraft account I'd had since middle school. Is this illegal? Could they have helped me? I at least wanted my capes back, but they refused to do anything for me.

@@TonyTheTiger-i6h the item known as 'gunpowder' I mean they skipped forward to 1800s tech by having it used exclusively for TNT for a time But there already is a historical firearm weapon in the game, the firework crossbow is inspired by chinese weaponry typically people want something like matchlocks/flintlocks, and not assault rifles it's not that radical an idea when the game has magic electronics and wireless power/transmission now

I would also just say that Minecraft's kid-friendliness is slightly deceptive and surface level, two recent major updates are entirely horror themed with monsters like the creaking and the warden; the endermen are based off of the slenderman; the game features things like the zombification of children, etc. Parents need to be aware of the themes in the game, just because it's pixely and bright (and even rated E10+) does not mean it's genuinely kid-safe. Additionally, games which actually were intended for children have featured guns before, such as Lego Indiana Jones.

That would allow for free versions to be made, which is particularly why they refuse this. To be specific I'd bet that Microsoft would never allow for datapack-like mods to be imbedded into bedrock ver mc because that would technically make it free/easy to download/no minecoins to the marketplace, which would force Microsoft's hand.

as much as I can get behind the reason for suing Mojang, since I agree that the company has not been properly communicating issues to anyone really and there's some much needed action, I'm still unsure about how this lawsuit will move fowards... mojang is owned by microsoft, so I'm unsure if one singular person with a limited amount of financial resources could go up against it and win, I'm not from the US nor am I from Europe so my knowledge of law is based on my own country... but I'm still skeptical about the whole ordeal. Best of luck really, and let's see what comes from it, I suppose.

Minecraft was built around classic assets & meant for... Basically everything really, and the name speaks for its core purpose - you survive, mine & craft your crap to advance, and that means using EVERYTHING, from literally punching sheep to death and up to using fucking nukes to wipe out half of your world if you really have to. Suing Mojang for facilitating gambling is stupid when what the players want is for the servers to decide what kind of content they want. Funny enough, this happened to me more than once! About losing accounts and mojang refusing to let me get my account back. I wasn't even a rule breaker, I was just a kid at the time and had anxiety issues and deleted my mc account in rage. I messaged them 1d later asking to restore my account on the email I used to login, and they said no because didn't have the transaction statement and fully permanently deleted my account.

I kind of get the gun thing because GTA is marketed as a video game for young adults like teens and Minecraft is a game for all ages game has something associated with it like GTA then it becomes hard to market to the next generation of children. Plus, the guns in that server are for people on people, violence, and gang violence and it’s not a pretty thing and it’s not exactly something you want to inspire in the next generation.
