Today we are going to be talking about the most played version of Minecraft out there, and well no it’s not the Java edition of the game, and well actually it’s not even the incredibly successful Minecraft Bedrock edition that’s on console and PC’s. Today we will be talking about Minecraft Pocket edition, a version of Minecraft that has sold a combined 133 million copies of the game across iOS and Android, and regularly accounts for over one hundred million dollars annually in revenue for the game. You’d think that Minecraft Pocket Edition would be boasting a stellar gameplay experience considering how much revenue and sales it brings in, but it’s quite the opposite. The Minecraft Pocket Edition gameplay experience is one that brings fear into my heart when I have to think about playing the increasingly complex game of Minecraft on a barebones and outdated Mobile Controls system.

Pocket Edition is renamed to Bedrock Edition it's no longer called PE, and the Entire Player Base of Bedrock Edition is considered including all Platforms it Supports

I also started out on mcpe, and I was pretty terrible with the old controls. But because of my passion for the game and my young creativity, I got used to it. Eventually I was able to enjoy the game without any big problems with the controls because I got way better with them. The only thing now for Mojang to add is customization 👍

I started playing Minecraft on PE. It's the first and only edition I owned and played for more than two years. Got absolutely addicted to the game. Yes, since I started playing Win Edition and Java I can't go back anymore, and I agree it's because of the controls. But so many people just don't know that it's a problem. They love the game for what it is and get used to the controls because of it.

I think the bad controls make minecraft feel a lot more fun, because it makes the nights feel more scary and makes progression longer.

@@LordJaguar17 That is very true. Minecraft doesn't feel as challenging anymore as it did when I played Pocket Edition, and yes it's partially because my playing has improved, but you're right, fighting and surviving is a lot harder with the PE controls, which definitely makes it more challenging.

I used to religiously play Minecraft on my phone/tablet. It was all I knew. I was even good and the pvp servers on there. But once I got Minecraft on my pc no matter what I tried I couldn’t go back to mobile 😔 I get motion sickness when I try to play on my phone 😭

This is why a recently switched to playing java on mobile on the pojav launcher. You can add, remove, resize, rename, and just completely customize the control buttons

I would add another joystick and have the attack button by the second joystick aswell as the crouch anf get rid of the jump button and use the up button for manual jumping

This is exactly what I was thinking about the other day, and I would love if more games implemented HUD's like the Final Fantasy MMO where essentially every piece of the HUD is customizable and has the ability to cycle through different pages of skills for different actions in game. I've been struggling playing Pocket Edition, the HUD is an enemy. I will say that I would like to improve on the current system some more before I completely throw in the towl.

Sadly or probably the latest version 1.20+ now giving a low end device a random freeze screen even they're on smooth side/near 40 fps or no lag but still having a random freeze since the bedrock need a good spec or something 😭

I just re downloaded pe and i can tell you YOU CAN CUSTOMIZE THEM NOW its still on beta as the app says but it is now a feature :D

You do know the game recognises xbox and playstation controllers? You can bluetooth a controller to your phone like sone headphones and its changes the control scheme once it connects even in mid session.

2:15 I grew up on these controls so hearing you say they’re unusable made me laugh out loud. 😂 Personally I despise the new controls especially the new d-pad one. I wish they just kept the normal controls as the default option and then had the other options too. They could still have the ability to customize the singular buttons but keep the normal format for people like me who are so used to it. I feel like the change-specifically to the d-pad option- was unnecessary and has greatly decreased my overall experience of Minecraft. I agree that having the option of changing where the controls are is helpful to SOME PEOPLE, but the developers didn’t need to change the controls for us. To me and many other people think this change wasn’t helpful for them. I had to customize my controls to make them as close to the normal ones as possible, this took way too much time and I still have to adjust the jump button sometimes. That’s my opinion so please don’t fight me. 9:25 My brother is a builder in Minecraft, he is literally recreating a city he went to in Italy in minecraft creative mode. I’m a survival expert, I love playing on survival mode, beating the ender dragon, and fighting to survive each night. The normal (old) controls on our phones have worked perfectly for both of us. Now this is only two people but I have many friends who have different play styles than me and I have never heard any of them complain about the normal controls. Again, that’s my opinion so please don’t fight me. I am very passionate on this topic as you can see, I had a mental breakdown when the controls changed.

You know i've been playing minecraft pocket editions since I have known about minecraft. Although I would really like to play it on computer and console. I just never have the option in my position. The point is if you're used to playing pocket edition, then it really isn't that bad of a version of Minecraft, Especially with the new ui update they added. I also like the marketplace. It gives me something that spends my spare money on to customize my character or buy an adventure map. (I'm fourteen, by the way In case you're confused.)

Honestly considering that bedrock is way harder than java from skeletons being able to hunt you like snipers to the controls being so hard to get used to compared to the mouse and keyboard u get on java its just unfair to even bother playing on mobile perhaps controller is much better on play station or xbox but mobile controls are horrible combined with the unforgiving mobs it just makes the game a hellish experience to enjoy due to not having a xbox,ps or decent PC's i decided to play the game on mobile and it made me absolutely hate the game because i simply couldn't compete from the beginning to the end it felt like something was wrong and than i finally got my hands on the java version on PC and i found the game to be a heavenly experience the Mobile version made me hate on Minecraft and making me see it as a cringy blocky game unplayable at all but on java it really shows you its much more than meets the eyes the java shows you the true Minecraft experience that you would expect but whatever version u like just please for your own sake if ur a new player dont participate at all with pocket edition because u will only torture yourself and u will view the game as garbage until u try playing with mouse and keyboard or controller the pocket edition although amazingly optimized for the low end phones mojang needs to work with the controls asap if they want success with it if they dont than PE will just be forgotten version and probably get out of support

I only came here to say that Minecraft Pocket Edition doesn’t exist. Minecraft PE was merged into Bedrock Edition years ago. I prefer it when people refer to it as “Mobile Bedrock Edition” as it is the correct way to say it and actually shows that they know the game and are allowed to have an opinion on it.
