1.13 could perhaps be another game-changing update as it greatly improved the oceans, but on the opposite end was the update notorious for making the game's performance worse, to the point where many servers (like 2b2t) still haven't updated past 1.12

Surprised 1.14 was missed. Made villager trading halls a lot easier. Source of unlimited diamond gear, books and golden carrots seems pretty big to me (how easy it became, IK it was possible before). Iron farms became simpler too, and the texture update changed the whole vibe of the game for the better!

Yeah but overall it didn't add anything insane or game changing, it just improved an already existing system. Compared to the other versions mentioned in this video - some of which completely overhauled or added fundamental features of the game - 1.14 wasn't all that big of an update.

Half of the reasons listed for why 1.9 was an insanely important version are actually features that came out in 1.11. Shulker boxes were added in 1.11 despite shulkers being added in 1.9. The ability to fly with fireworks when using an elytra was also added then. Observers and Totems of Undying were also added then. I really think this update should have made the list man

IMO I think 1.13 is a big update because behind the scenes there was a thing called "the flattening" that occurred, where all block IDs were removed and replaced by their string names (i.e. oak_planks instead of ID 5). This greatly improved the technical side of the game but nearly universally made all prior command/mods that used IDs incompatible.
@winterwolf80462 жыл бұрын
1.13 just made server performance godawful, wasnt a very good update imo

To me, the core of Minecraft doesn't really seem "complete" until the alpha versions. As such, my own personal list of the most impactful updates begins with the Halloween update aka alpha 1.2.0, then the "piston update" as I like to call it (beta 1.7), adventure update (beta 1.8 + release 1.0), 1.5 (because I love redstone), 1.9, 1.13, 1.16, and finally the cave update.

8:39 No no no no no. No. No no no. You brought back horrible memories. This does not deserve just a split second. Port-forwarding was one of the worst things to ever exist. It was one of the most annoying things to do. I first faced that in a major way in Warcraft 3 to host maps and was so glad I got rid off it, only to be bothered by it in Minecraft again. Before Hamachi and custom servers, it was one of the worst things to set up servers. Especially when we (in Germany) had a switch where you couldn't do port forwarding anymore in the router for WHATEVER reason and it was said it would just work, but it didn't. I think the most impactful updates to Minecraft are Beta 1.8 and 1.9 (Combat Update). I even compare the players by the date they join Minecraft. Like 2b2t, where is a criteria to be considered an old player or a new player. Old players are considered those who joined 2b2t prior to June 1st 2016 (the date when TheCampingRusher made his first video on 2b2t), and new players are considered those who joined 2b2t after June 1st 2016. I consider this applies to Minecraft as well. I consider the old players to be those who joined Minecraft prior to September 14th 2011 (Beta 1.8's release date). The mid players are considered by me those who joined Minecraft between September 14th 2011 and before February 29th 2016 (1.9's release date) And the new players are considered by me those who joined Minecraft after February 29th 2016. I will explain why are Beta 1.8 and 1.9 (The Combat Update) are cutoff points between the old, mid and new Minecraft. Beta 1.8 changed so much about Minecraft. It added a panorama image that stayed until Minecraft 1.13, a new hunger system, a new terrain generator, new bow mechanics, sword blocking, new sounds and so much more. Unless you played Pocket Edition before 0.12.1 or Legacy Console Edition on Xbox 360 before TU5, you must know the old sounds, the lack of a hunger bar and the lack of sprinting to be an old player. And 1.9 is one of the most controversial updates of Minecraft. It splited the community in two, many players quit Minecraft because of this update and this update started Minecraft's decline in 2016. Added a new combat, revamped the End and the Ender Dragon, added new sounds, added a Spectate option if a player dies in Hardcore mode and so much more. Unless you played the Bedrock Edition or the Legacy Console Edition, you must know the old combat, the old End and the Old Ender Dragon and lack of sounds while placing lava and water and while equiping an armor to be at least a mid player. I watched Minecraft videos starting in 2013-2014, then I was starting playing Minecraft, starting with Pocket Edition in late 2014, and then I was starting playing Java Edition in August-September 2015. Please don't make hate on this comment. It's my opinion.

1.10 has to be the least important update, adding only 2 mobs that you can only find in rare biomes. Sure magma blocks are useful and important, but that really could have just come out with another update. I think we need a proper new update that truly deserves the name "frostburn update".

3. 3 mobs. Husks, Strays, and Polar Bears.

I really like 1.9+ pvp for survival worlds, but I like how most servers like Hypixel kept 1.8 for pvp

Honestly, I dont mind the combat changes in 1.9 I feel like 1.8 combat is just click as fast as you can, but now you actually need to plan your hits and not just run in mouse ablazin

For the translation, I think the Chinese translation is way cooler, “End dimension” is “the place where it ends” and the “Ender” the “shadows of the end”; and btw, Nether is literally translated into “hell”.

1.14 was definitely an important part. It popularized automatic farms and made villagers super exploitable

Yeah but overall it didn't add anything insane or game changing, it just improved an already existing system. Compared to the other versions mentioned in this video - some of which completely overhauled or added fundamental features of the game - 1.14 wasn't all that big of an update.

@@potat8931 thats what the nether update did. Granted it did do it in a more significant manner. I’ll give you this though

1.11 added Shulker boxes and made firework rockets work with Elytra. Before 1.11 Shulkers were useless and the Elytra were glorified parachutes

The Wild(Uncultivated) Update(Deep Dark, Birch Forest and Mangrove Swamp) 1.19, 1.20, 12.1 is parallel and consequence of Culture(Cultivated) Update(Acacia and Dark Oak) 1.7.2.

I remember playing before beta 1.3. Actually i played most of my minecraft time in pre beta 1.3 time. I still do not use such features like enchanting because they are still too new.

Beta 1.3 was the most important version, because that's when I started playing.
@jaydenwagner79052 жыл бұрын
For me it would definitely be either 1.7 or 1.13. 1.7 changed the game with a whole bunch of new biomes and blocks and some more. Same with 1.13 but they also added some decor blocks and new mobs with new water mechanics

I’ve got a really cool alternate name. Dragon’s island.

It would be a decent name but it wouldn't really work for the outer end islands
