Youre on a 4070 ti and have under 2ms input lag at 800fps on a 240hz monitor at 1440p you said minecraft optimisation sucks then showed it wasnt and at the start you say vulcan is the best and then at the end you go on to say that sodium is better in most scenarios.

The slight problem with Vulcan is not every PC is fully Vulcan 1.3 or 1.2 compatible, which the mod strictly requires. And if your PC is not Vulcan compatible, this will not be useful to you. Minecraft Optimization is very much based upon your hardware. If you have a graphics card or graphics chipset which strictly favors Vulcan(intel gpus), sure Vulkan will be useful to you. If you have an Nvidia GPU, Nvidium will be your best option. And then sodium is the universal best option if you're unsure of what your hardware is capable of. And then finally, if you have an older graphics card which can barely scrape by with OpenGL 3, you're going to not need any of these mods and you're going to have to fall back to a mod called Force OpenGL 3 or Force OpenGL2(If your PC doesn't even support OpenGL 3).

@@osopenowsstudio9175 the problem is the vulkan renderer is different to the gl renderer, so many mods adding new visuals etc etc, wont simply just work and never will, until the creators of these mods give it a vulkan support, but that basically means to rewrite a ton of things, and I highly doubt that they would.

@someone4229 Maybe who knows the Vulkan guy might not know all optimizations, and the techniques used in Sodium might also work in Vulkan, and Vulkan itself would have different places for optimizations. Also, I am wondering if translation overhead affects the Vulkan mod? Minecraft isn't natively coded with Vulkan, so all OpenGL commands have to be translated to Vulkan commands. Is this all done before hand at launch or is the translation happening in real time? If the latter, then Vulkan with its implementation is so much faster than native OpenGL even with translation overhead?

@someone4229 No but all of Minecraft is coded for OpenGL. I don't think you can just re-code everything natively with just a mod. You don't even have Minecraft's source code. So either translate all OpenGL commands loaded in memory to Vulkan commands, or real-time translate it as Minecraft throws OpenGL commands.

I just love the way it removes all the micro stutters that were so annoying on ogl. I feel small stuff way more on 240hz and it makes a world of difference. Even though the fps is pretty similar, the frame time is much lower and I have no stuttering which is just heaven

So did my own personal testing on a ryzen 5 5600G with iGPU in 1.21.1, i waited around 5 mins each time and just type in the biggest number i got within that time, f3 screen isn't opened (i know they reduce fps when opened), 10 render distance, day time on a random plains biome facing straight: sodium: 775 fps vulkan: 774 fps facing straight up: sodium: 1255 fps vulkan: 1148 fps both instance has lithium and modernfix, idk if its because i'm using an older machine, or iGPU doesnt work as well..but yea Sodium still takes the cake, haven't even mention the better compatibilty with other mods. (have no idea/data about frame time or input lag though)

this doesnt feel like a fair comparison video. your into the 200+ fps areas that dont matter for video quality. for most users max screen resolutions dont go above 200 fps. or get locked down to 60-120. this should be comparing input lag as by default you cant hit these numbers naturally. i have similar specs and ive never seen these extreeme number with default & optimized mods. and yes i have a high refresh rate screen. and still never see these numbers with unlimited frames on.

The only problem with vmod is compatibility with other mods. Many mods internally call opengl funcs which automatically makes them incompatible by definition. Also vmod mainly is being developed by a single guy, xCollateral, so it means there's just nobody to help him with porting to newer mc versions, bugfixes and new features. The most anticipated one is shaders support, which will be embedded in vmod.

Tip for FPS and less stutters: if you have less than 4 mods, set the amount of allocated memory to 2 or 4 GB depending on the version-it will have less overhaul on the CPU, Java garbage collector, and the RAM if you have less than 8 GB or it is older than DDR4.

Not every GPU is Vulkan compatible, and also there are a lot of mods incompatible with Vulkan, other than that great video. Edit: also, fps doesn't really matter; the input lag is always the same as Minecraft runs input on another thread. there is virtually zero difference on a 240hz monitor between 240fps and 5000fps. Edit 2: i just noticed you have 16GB of ram allocated to Minecraft, but it's recommended to never allocate more then 10GB, because otherwise the Java garbage collector may have issues and cause lag spikes.

Tbh, Vulkan is not that good on "optimization" on Minecraft since most of the GPUs that support vulkan or that works best with Vulkan are modern GPUs. And most of the people who are searching for Minecraft Optimizations are people with low end GPUs which doesn't support Vulkan a lot. If only people could use DirectX instead of OpenGL on Minecraft, that would be better at least.

Vulkan isnt better for most pcs. In normal mc with vulkan i got 2780-4100 fps and with sodium it was stable 4700-5100.

@Inv1xxity Vulkan isn't just an optimization mod, it changes the way minecraft works. thats why its worse. my 3060 got completely destroyed when i joined multiplayer with vulkan (around 500-700 fps *the server had 30 players*) and when i unistalled it and replaced it with sodium it jumped instantly higher (around 900-1010 fps *the server had 40-45 players or something*). sodium is more stable too. (my monitor is like between 1k and 2k)

he's recording in atleast 1440p he's recording in high bitrate he's playing in 1440p he's on the latest version we don't know what he got open in his background we don't know if he optimized his pc there are many factors that affect his frames which we don't know. realistically he would get more fps than you.
