speedrunners tend to lower their render distance to unload pearls (dubbed pearl hang) and that's what they did here

no speedrunners use a trick, by decreasing the chunks render distance, so it wont load until they get into that specific chunk. the problem is he forgot and came back to the same chunk

lure just has to do with how fast you get catches, not what you actually get. luck of the sea is what changes the loot table

I am often astounded by how bad speedrunners are at minecraft. They focus all their skill on random clutches and rng manipulation that they somehow forget the very basics of a game such as situational awareness. You would think even if you were trying to be the worlds fastest, you would check to see if your nether portal spawned over lava, or if there was a creeper in the desert temple, or not sprint jumping on half a heart

Doing that stuff all the time would slow them down though, whereas clutches prevent more time from being lost. It's not that they have no situational awareness, it's that they have to forego caution for the sake of speed. It's just a lose lose situation when their luck is bad like that, but when they're lucky that saved time can be the difference between getting a new record or not.
