Don't forget that they changed the way ores generate. So to look for iron and coal, you should be travelling up mountains, not down holes. For these tutorials, it may be useful to visit the wiki to double-check these things; everything is different from the old days now, sadly.

When I first bought MC and it was downloading for me back in 2012 I watched how to survive and thrive ep 1 (original) while I was waiting. I watched every single episode of that series (and a few others of yours) and my friends and I currently have a server going to this day!! Funny how watching these videos makes me realize some of the little habits I picked up from your videos I still have (sword in first slot, torches on one side going down, leave one log at the bottom of the tree when mining it to reach the top of the stump, general suspicion of chickens etc). I am so excited this series is getting a reboot!!

I don’t know if it’s just to keep videos under 20 minutes, but I’ve seen a bit of weird cuts in terms of the video. Particularly around 9:02 Is there a specific reason for that? It seemed to flow better at least personally without any action cuts, maybe just a “ok we left the cave and made our way back to the house” if you need to make a cut

That’s actually not really how lightning rods really work, what they actually do is bleed the electric charges off the storm actually preventing lightning from happening. But they don’t stop it completely, and what does get through will strike the rod rather than anywhere else and the rod is also directly connected to the ground by cables providing a safe path for the lightning to take to earth so that the structures are undamaged. Just something I learned a while back.
