My dad works on condos/hotels along the ocean. He writes proposals, but in order to write them he has to be there to inspect the buildings. Biggest issue isn’t the sand, but the salt spray from the ocean. Gets in the concrete and starts to erode the steel rebars. If they notice issues, they help the building contract a contractor to fix it.

If u want help keeping the mosquitoes away, get a Plectranthus (Swedish ivy plant) or citronella geranium for best results. Lived in an old growth forest that had stagnant pools of water along a creek and they kept the mosquitoes away very well

3:35 A common misconception about mosquitoes is that they lack a purpose. They fill a niche in the food chain that didn't need to be filled, and as such don't face any competitors. Which is why the species thriving. But did you know that mosquitoes are primarily pollinators. Most species of mosquito don't even bite us, mostly due to the fact that these species don't live near humans. The only time they require blood, is when a female mosquito lay eggs. So, only female mosquito bite. And even then, only when they lay eggs.

A follow-up for clarification. So why do they bite so often? And why are there so many?? That has to do with the mortality rate of the species. It is probably common knowledge that bigger animals have less offspring then smaller animals. This is because bigger animals have less threats facing them, so there is no need to keep ye ol' babymaker running. For smaller animals (especially bugs) there are many threats, thus a higher mortality rate. With so much loss, a species can adept one of two things. Get tougher, more resilient to combat the harsh envoirment. Or... Make.More.Babies. Which is why there are so many bugs, including mosquitoes. A female mosquito lays around 300 eggs in her lifetime. And that also explains why they bite so often. They don't, there are just a lot of them. That is not to say every mosquito bite indicates another mosquito. You cannot count them to know how many you are dealing with, sometimes they do bite more then once. But it is very conditional when they bite. It takes about 8 to 10 days for a female mosquito to lay eggs. Only within that time will they occasionally seek out blood for protein. Any other day (female mosquitoes roughly live 56) they pollinate flowers, like bees. *on a side note, male mosquitoes only live 10 days... yikes* Male mosquitoes don't bite at all. So if you get bitten by mosquitoes all summer long, it means the species is thriving in your area. And knowing this, maybe you want to plant some flowers. The mosquitoes will be very happy pollinating your area. I know it's long, I just had fun writing this. And hopefully you learned something new.
