I use steel bars for the fireplace grate and use a magma cube as the fire. Also brick around the fireplace gives it that homy feel too. Also instead of a pressure plate in the study you could have a potion stand with a chest and item frame for holding your potion ingredients.

Place stone buttons on all fire-risk surfaces. Stone buttons prevent surfaces from fire. You can place stone buttons on floors and ceilings.

try using redstone torch for the fireplace, gives it a darker glow, or place a cobblestone slab over the torch nd it gives off some odd cut off light effect, i think you can place a red carpet over it as well UPDATE: Red carpet with redstone torch under it :)

Jeracraft, I love your builds a lot, you should update your medieval builds with the latest update. The new blocks like the smoker, campfire for the fireplace, stuff like that. I'm building this on ps4 bedrock update 1.15

you can actually build a fireplace with real fire with out burning down your house! first you need a 3x3 space for your fire place. and dig 2 block down at the center of the 3x3 space the 1st block will be the place for the nether rack and the 2nd block will be where the fire is so basically the fire is under the 3x3 space. now unless the blocks surrounding the 3x3 space is flammable blocks like woods it wont burn down the house because the fire is 1 block deep your house and the surrounding blocks around it are non flammable so it wont spread with other wood blocks in your house!
