People went overboard over 1.9 combat, it only takes a tiny bit more focus than spam clicking. The one good point against it is that new players don't deal any damage because they don't know to time your attacks, but that could easily be fixed with a popup in the corner that says "wait till the attack bar is full to deal maximum damage" It would be an easy fix

Its not really 1.9 combat thats bad its the fact that mojang changed it so drastically. Like imagine you spend a LONG time working on your pvp skills and mojang just releases an update that completely slaps you in the face with the combat. That is what happened to me and why 1.9 is so hated.

Regardless if you click 5 CPS or use a 50 CPS counter, if you can't do the accurate movements, W and S tap, knockback and using projectiles you are in a disadvantage. Technoblade clicks at about 6 CPS and he absolutely destroys nearly all players he encounters simply because he has mastered the techniques. Same with lots of top players as well. 1.8 PVP is more than just colliding with an enemy and just pressing click fast

Even couriway thinks that 1.16 is better for speedrunning than of 1.17, bc it doesnt really affect speedrunning that much, and I think it would lag the game a little there are also useless structures that might even ruin the good structures for speedrunning, idk how much it would affect speedrunning. Also, I dont think it would affect other types of Skills in Minecraft(like PvP and Speedrunning). I think it would only benefit building, redstone and exploration. So its a good tier, not a best tier

Yeah but you gotta think back then it made hundreds of great creators and hundreds of thousands to quit. There was still alot of players but alot quit. So alot of mc content went downhill. And the mc creators drifted towards other games: overwatch fortnite etc. And then when it got "revived" in 2018 and then triple revived in 2020 & 2021 so the creators came back because minecraft was getting views. *WARNING RANT AHEAD:* I dont have any respect for people who did this. 1.9 was a good update. Combat, especially with mobs, was very much lacking and didn’t really add much challenge to the game. It’s still somewhat lacking, but the update added a lot of new additions that makes players get a bit more creative with their approach. The later, stronger mobs definitely fit the style of combat that 1.9 introduced, and I don’t think we would’ve had things like Ravagers or Wardens without it. On top of that, end cities completely revamped the endgame of Minecraft and allowed so much more to happen post-dragon. Top tier update imo

1.12.2 deserved to be placed in good, because it was targeted to builders. The vast array of what you could build with these blocks, along with the color tweaks on previous blocks, made that update really stand out. Many people had wanted "flat color blocks" for a long time, and Mojang finally delivered. Good tier. 1.9 encouraged shield camping, so I agree with you that it is faulty tier.

Some things to note : 1) 1.7 : A lot of people argue about this , here's the thing . 1.7 added almost HALF of all the biomes we know today , it's underrated , it also added new commands , music discs and more than only biomes . 2) 1.15 : If you're going to say bees are useless , you forgot that honey blocks are a good redstone component to use , it also can break your falls if you land on the side and reduces the damage if you land on it . Also , you can use honeycomb to craft candles which are imo a very cool lighting item , it also can be coloured . Bees also help boost the growing process of crops of you out them near them . They aren't that bad . And also the amount of bugs fixed in it , it's so much , so give it some credit . Btw it also added that respawn feature , before 1.15, you couldn't set your spawn with a bed unless it's nighttime , after 1.15 you can . 3) 1.12/ 1.12.2 : For builders , this update did bring so much things like concrete and granite and andesite ( diorite is ugly imo ) ,you can use them to craft really blyatful builds If you know how . Also 1.12.2 has a lot of mods in it , it almost compares to the amount of mods that 1.7.10 has. 4) 1.9 : Don't get me wrong , 1.9 is not that bad imo , it added shulkers and elytras and end cities which are very cool and more than that . And if you want the old combat system play in Bedrock edition . It also added mending so without it we cannot use xp to mend our tools and weapons . 5) 1.8 : It's overrated imo , it didn't add much to it , and if you want to play the old combat system , play bedrock edition , again . Not because hypixel runs on it means it's good . If hypixel made a version for bedrock then no need for staying in 1.8 . 6) 1.5: Not because you don't understand Redstone means it's bad, like fr . If it didn't add those comparators and hoppers we cannot create big automatic farms and automatic storage systems and other very cool stuff . It's helpful for a lot of reasons and helped a lot of players so it should be ranked higher than it is . 7) 1.0 : the best Minecraft update because without it Minecraft wouldn't be officially released . It's the basis for every update . 8) Consider modifying the video and adding 1.17 because it dropped in June , and it added A LOT of content in it , more than 100 features and bug fixes .

No, I hate 1.9 because it was the most divisive update. Mojang took very little community feedback with the update, making the new combat unable to translate well with preexisting minigames. Worst of all, using it was mandatory if you wanted to play on new versions (they've denied the suggestion of adding a world option for it) and thanks to this update, many servers remain in the 6 year old version 1.8 to this day. I am hoping the next update to combat might fix the problems people have with the current one.

You shouldn’t condemn him for preferring the old combat. It was objectively a simpler time and the division and destruction of the community at the time speaks for itself. Updates are supposed to strengthen communities, not tear them apart. Mojang’s (or Microsoft’s now) direct refusal to add a combat gamerule proves they have no real reason other than attracting new players and getting rid of old ones for doing it. It’s also clear that a large part of the reason for doing it was to attempt to kill Java edition, something Microsoft has wanted to do ever since they acquired Minecraft. This is proven by the fact that all bedrock edition platforms, PC included, conveniently don’t have the combat changes and still work as they used to. I’ve never met someone who started playing before 2016 who preferred new age combat. The people who like 1.9 are people who didn’t play the old way for years prior, they’re people who that’s all they’ve ever known.

The combat improved, which it actually made axes stronger than swords. For example, a sharpness v netherite axe (yes I know that's from 1.16) deals 18 damage to a zombie with a critical hit. A sharpness v netherite sword only goes 14 to a zmobie with a crit, if I remember right. Swords now dealt damage to any mob in front of you if it was within 3 blocks. Also shields? Can't forget that. 1.9 expanded the End's usefulness aside from just killing the Ender Dragon. Elytras, enough said. Finally, End Stone Bricks. A new mob: Shulkers. End Rods. Combining two shulker shells with a chest gave you a Shulker Box, which inadvertently expanded on both inventory storage and Ender Chest storage, because now you could store a max of 46656 items in your Ender Chest, if you had full stacks of 64 items in a Shulker Box, and 27 Shulker Boxes in your Ender Chest. Also don't forget, the most sought after enchantment after Looting and Unbreaking: Mending. I played without it before, but now that's it's there, I can't play without Mending on my tools. And for a short time between 1.9 and 1.11.2, you could combine both Mending and Infinity on a bow, which I still have a legitimate one that has both on a server. Simply because of this it never leaves my inventory except if I store it in my Ender Chest, and I also unbound my drop key. But seriously. Minecraft is a survival game. If all you have to do to kill mobs is spam your mouse, there's no strategy in that. Having to time your swings adds more challenge. So yes, I completely agree here. 1.9 made the combat loads better.

Alright I know the video was uploaded like a month ago but I’ll share my thoughts. I’ve been playing since before 1.0 so my opinion might matter to some but if not then don’t read lol anyways here goes. 1.7: Hard disagree. The biome additions and changes to worldgen really gave the game a fresh look and feel. The sheer amount of mods available and community content being made makes it a “best” imo. 1.4: Agree. Aside from what you mentioned, command blocks were added which gave way to incredible mapmaking. 1.1: Agree. Small update ranked accordingly. 1.5: Agree. Redstone tools were a great compliment to command blocks added in 1.4. Also quartz is so fucking pretty lol. 1.6: Agree. Horses aren’t as relevant for traveling today, but back then they really were. Leads were great, too. 1.2: Disagree. I’d probably place this between “average” and “faulty” because these features (jungle, iron golem, ocelot, redstone lamps, etc) are great features that are still loved to this day. 1.15: Agree. I like bees, and honey blocks are essential to modern-day contraptions like flying machines/tunnel bores. The bug fixes were certainly welcome, too. 1.0: Disagree. This is a “best” update for me because, even more strongly than 1.2, the features added are still pretty much the essence of the game. This update gave Minecraft an ending, and pretty much invented the game progression. 1.3: Agree. First update after 1.0 to add not just content but game mechanics. This update was a huge novelty back then, but some features have sadly become aged. Glad they reworked trading in 1.14, would like to see a similar thing done for the jungle & desert temple. 1.10: Agree. This is my least favorite update, adding only 5 blocks and 3 mobs (2 of which are variants) that aren’t that meaningful to the game. It’s weird to think that a couple snapshots of the more recent updates have more content than the entirety of 1.10. 1.11: Hard disagree. Shulker boxes gave the expanded end more purpose and contribute strongly to what we know as the “endgame” stage of MC progression. Back then, woodland mansions were the only way to get totems and fight illager mobs, too. This isn’t really “bad” but instead “average” to me. Llamas are cute, even though I rarely use them. **Let’s not forget, 1.11.2 added the ability to fly the elytra with fireworks!** 1.12: Disagree! Concrete, a smooth colored building block, is very important to builders and mapmakers, I can understand why it was advertised as much as it was. Rest of the update is pretty ‘meh’. So, “faulty” it is for me. 1.13: Agree. Amazing update. Wish the trident was more common in Java edition tho, and the turtle helmet worth farming for. Respiration diamond/netherite helms are simply better. 1.8: Agree. Don’t forget this update was heavily tailored towards mapmakers and the like. The additions (slime blocks, armor stands, guardians) have allowed for some of the most unique community creations, too. 1.14: Agree. Despite woodland mansions becoming nigh useless, I love every single addition in this update. Let’s not forget this update changed nearly every single texture in the game. This is probably my favorite update along with 1.16. 1.9: Disagree. I like this update. The new combat did screw over PvP gameplay but I don’t think it was made with PvP in mind. PvE, however, became much more interesting to me with the timed combat system. The other additions (bigger end, elytra, shulkers, igloos, spectral arrows) are what make this an “average” to me. What brings it down is the unusually long time it took to develop. 1.16: Totally agree. The nether we had in 1.15 was essentially the same as the one we had in alpha; terrain-wise, that is. The new biomes, mobs, mechanics, and let’s not forget, NETHERITE are what have made the game more fun than ever! 1.17: I’d say we’re slightly over halfway through the snapshot cycle and this so far looks like a God Tier Update. It’s amazing to see the same design principles used to revamp to the oceans, villages, and nether applied to part of the game that has remained intact since forever: the caves.
