I don't think there's a problem with going back to simplistic Minecraft. I've been enjoying playing outdated versions of the game like the PSVita, 3DS or og PS4. To me those versions have their place for the simplistic itch while the current version should be for the more experimental side. Even though the lack of updates don't entirely bother me because I enjoy the core gameplay and mostly play the game with my parents, it would still be great for Microsoft to branch out a bit and be more experimental

i think that microsoft, and most people, misunderstand beta players. i don’t think that people necessarily go back to beta just because they want less content, but because they want the content to be more cohesive. because microsoft is so afraid of changing the core loop, what ends up happening is mojang adds features that are tucked away and can reasonably be ignored. one example of this is biome specific mobs, as well as most of the recent structures, minus pillager towers, being generated underground. the eventual problem is that if all the content is added “outside” the core game, it tends to bloat and bog down the experience over time, because things are ultimately still being added, but it’s intentionally incohesive, a million different realms of content all disconnected from each other. instead, during the beta days, content was added freely even if it changed the core progression, but now a days it’s set in stone as iron > diamonds > nether > end, and nothing can get in the way of that, or can change fundamental systems, even if the design of those systems is outdated. i think the rise of mods like better than adventure shows that people don’t necessarily just want to go back to having less content, but don’t want it to feel so chaotic and unfocused like modern minecraft is.

If Microsoft is too scared of tarnishing the game, there's a revolutionary concept that has been popping up in media recently - MAKING A SEQUEL. Mojang's biggest problem is the problem common to all game devs, changing core stuff is risky, it can be seen in many Roblox games or GTA Online where slight change turn awesome game into trash or cashgrab, to prevent this they have to create content that don't impact the game much, they make small updates BUT! (btw, it means shoe in Polish xd) Mojang can annouce entire game revamp phase, and ask players if they would like it, then create updates that improve existing areas of games that are boring like some biomes, end, some mechanics ect. My problem with modern minecraft updates is that they don't really affect the average players gameplay that much, like what's the last time you purposefully went to a mangrove biome? If you're not a builder, chances are that it was when the update first came out and never again. I'm not saying everything since 1.13 was bad, quite the opposite actually, I think the updates from 1.13 to 1.18 have almost all changed the game in a way where a casual player might've actually gone out of their way to use features from those updates to do certain things, for example you might spawn close to an ocean and look for a shipwreck to get iron early, maybe you found a village and used that to get enderpearls or maybe you got them from bartering with piglins or farming endermen in the warped forest biome, but I don't think anyone has ever gone to a trial chamber so they can progress the game in any significant way Every update since 1.19 has just added side quests rather than actually add anything to the average players experience, most players aren't going to go out of their way to find a trial chamber, because why would you? Sure, it might be fun but there's so many unnecesary steps to actually getting there that it might not even be worth it (for example to get to the trial chambers you either have to get lucky or find a village, make one of the villagers into a cartographer, get them to a certain level and hope you get the trial chamber map trade, buy the trial chamber map and then follow that map to find the trial chamber), to me a lot of these updates feel like optional homework

We don’t need bigger updates (at least not yet). What Minecraft needs is to focus on fixing the basic mechanics before adding any new ones. Elytra, beds, hunger, enchantmenting, farming, tool repair, potions, the end, and so much more need to be fixed before mojang even considers adding anything else. People are begging for a new boss when the ender dragon has been a joke for years. Mojang needs to fix the dragon fight and the wither before they give us anything else.

Personally I think that the updates simultaneously change too much and not enough. I'm one of those people who thinks Minecraft was at its best when it was simple, and that they've added too much. But I'm also one of those people who wants bigger and more substantial updates. Because you see, the problem is what they're adding in the updates. If you add an entirely new dimension with a whole bunch of blocks, mobs, and recipes. That's brilliant. If you add a new grapple hook feature, that's also brilliant. Adding in the ability to move structures is also great. Doing all three in separate updates, also brilliant. Adding two or three new blocks and/or mobs every month for ten years though... I'm sorry, but now you're just ruining the game. What I'm trying to say is that they're too focused on adding useless "content" that does nothing but bloat the game. But if they instead added actual additions to the game, then that wouldn't feel like bloat, it would instead keep it novel. As an example, adding the new ore in the Nether was a great idea, because it added content to something that was lacking in it. Adding granite and the other types of stone in the Overworld, as well as separating all of the types of wooden stairs, just ruined the simplicity. Am I making sense? The Sims 4 has been doing a similar thing with the expansion packs. In earlier games, each expansion pack was more stuff to do . But in The Sims 4, almost every expansion pack is just the same thing with a different coat of paint. Sorry for the wall of text, I just wanted to properly explain myself. Good video by the way.

I think microsoft is right, and it's the correct thing to do. I can pick up and play minecraft and focus solely on building (which is what I like to do) in survival and have a pretty similiar experience to how it was years ago. With the upsurge of people "speedrunning" the game (even though it's not technically beatable) I think people are expecting power levelling or more and more content akin to a game like terraria, which minecraft is not. I don't want to get super OP and beat the bosses 100 times super hardcore in 2 weeks and leave the world to do another run, I have rogue-likes, Fallout, Baldurs gate, terraria or dont starve for that. I want to come back to the game in my own time, same world, with some new content that doesnt change the gameplay significantly. I feel it is best as it is simply.

Exactly! I’ve seen so many people act like beating the ender dragon is the end of Minecraft and it honestly annoys me. Beating the dragon is not and should not be the end of the game. The game should still get updates but nothing over the top.

If you just add "item that makes things fly", then all the smartness of doing much with little is lost yk I do think some other big updates could be cool tho like adding more weirder and different weapons, and adding more and MORE AND MORE AND MORE structures and mobs tho, which was why I thought the last update was cool So well in the end yeah I think they should still be careful but adding things to the world instead of mechanics seem like it would be pretty safe and fun tho

a video made by “The Hayze” changed how i look at all of the “useless” features added to the game. They argue most players are always focused on combat related things such as getting maxed out armor and tools and beating the dragon. The small features are seen as useless because they dont help players progress the game and thats it. The little features added are spice to the game that gives you more things to do. They also explain a bunch of other factors mojang has to think about when adding updates. They have to make sure the new mobs/blocks/features work the same on 2 different games and 3 different platforms. They cant appeal to all kinds of minecraft players (builders want more blocks, fighters want more enemies or weapons, engineers want more redstone mechanics, explorers want more places to discover, etc). If that one commenter was telling the truth, trying to appeal to all kinds of players in a single update may be too much. Id also like to say that i see quite of few of these “games are boring” videos, while their whole channel is about playing said game. Sometimes it doesn’t even seem like they’re bored at all. it’s just trendy to complain.

So what i heard was that Minecrafts Code itself is very old and its a mess since Notch was inexperienced at the time and its hard to fix the code. So if they wanted to doo a massive update it would take alot of time and testing to make sure it doesn't huet the Mobs A.I,Textures, or how certain blocks or items spawn/Fucition. This also i believe doubles towards if this Update has items involving anything with red stone or more complex items

I don't necessarily disagree with any of your main points, but your example pointing to the Poisonous Potato update and your description of it are completely misleading-all of the supposed "new biomes" added there are existing biomes in the main game but made up of potato-themed blocks, and of course all of the new blocks are either just hue-shifted or retextured existing blocks. I played around with the floataters, and though their concept is very cool, their implementation in that update is very, very broken. The one and only actually good feature, I would argue, that exists there is the grapple hook, that I do hope to see them do something with in the future that isn't unbalanced or redundant with the already existing elytra. Everything else though, if you actually paid much attention at all, you can see is hastily thrown together and is made-up pretty much entirely of existing features, which of course is fine for an April Fools update, but people who only watch short clips and don't actually play the update for more than 20 minutes think it's super new when it's anything but.

A few inaccuracies that are probably worth pointing out: 1. Old mobs from mob votes HAVE been added to the game after their votes. It happened in 1.19 with the frogs. 2. Minecraft updates have never been limited to 1 mob per update. Since the release of the game, around 3/4 of all updates have had more than 1 mob. I agree with you in some ways but you seem to be reaching for a standard for Minecraft that nobody would hold for any other game. What other game with a one-time payment can you expect yearly updates for a decade? The problem with Minecraft updates was never the amount of content, but rather the cool new things that you can do with that content. 1.20 had a lot of stuff in it but nothing really captured the imagination so everyone disliked it. 1.9 on the other hand didn't have an insane amount of content but what it did add (elytra and end content) peaked people's imagination and had fun functionality so 1.9 ended up being a great update. Coding a 3D voxel game is extremely difficult, so we don't get much content. It's how it is. If you don't like it, Minecraft has some of the best modding support of any game.

1. Technically, the Frog was part of the Biome Vote, not a Mob Vote. 2. Yeah, I was generalising by saying "1 mob per update", just talking about how the mob votes seem to be the "big exciting thing" for each update. It it's hard to add more to the game, surely there's nobody better for the job than the largest company in the world? With their humongous amount of funds can they not add some more stuff to minecraft?

Let’s be honest. The community themselves hardly ever know what they want. If they stopped being 2-year olds for a second, maybe they’ll realize that they’re being fed better than ever with these updates. I mean, come on! We’re in a time where we’re getting wolf armor, more paintings, and the mace! Things that used to only be in mods! What’s not to like? Also, we’re in a time where the mob vote mob actually does some revolutionary things no other can do!

Minecraft updates suck because they give us mob votes and show us stuff that we could have gotten in the next update to then abandon those ideas If it doesnt win the vote. This is lame as hell because not only do the majority of people voting get dissatisfied, the developers add less and less content every update with the big thing being the mob votes. My solution? Just play modpacks and modded minecraft. Vanilla is downright boring, there is no progression after you beat the dragon which you can do really quickly if you understand the game like I do (I've been playing for 12 years).
@fldom46108 ай бұрын
why do so many people care about mobvotes? Literally the update isnt just a mob there are far more cools features and notonly the mob. I wish the game stopped being updated at the village and pillage update, and then every update after that was in a separate game called Minecraft 2 or something. But it really doesn't matter too much because we have the legacy console versions of the game, my favorite versions.

I started playing Minecraft in 2013, nowadays I generally just play tech mods bc I don't enjoy building/vanilla survival progression. I do not care at all what version of Minecraft the pack I'm playing is on bc it barely influences anything at all. The content added by Minecraft updates is always absolutely dwarfed by whatever new stuff is added via the modpack, and it's all from random people on the internet doing it for FREE. I'm not really sure why Mojang has hired a team of competent developers only to have big wait times between updates where they add an amount of content that could be outdone by a single person. I don't understand what they're so afraid of changing when playing older versions of MC is extremely easy to do on java edition, and a lot of the people complaining about too much new content being added are *still* mad about beta 1.8 (almost 12 years ago now). I do still find it interesting what other people can do in the vanilla game, but very few updates since 1.9 have interested me beyond an appreciation for whatever niche things you can do with the handful of things they added. At least 1.21 looks like one of the more interesting updates, I hope that they can keep it up for future ones.

Look you can hire whatever developer you want they won't bugfix five versions that much faster than anyone else. Fact is Minecraft the game is actively losing money paying 10-30$ up front for one and a half decades of the development might sound nice but well the most profitable business strategy it is not. Hiring new people means considerable loss and if ya can't increase profit well that means firing them. Minecraft is a multi console live service game that has to run on mobile. Ending any but a dead console version means far more massive upset than anything so far You have to fix thousands of Hella obscure bugs and prevent future ones. Things mod developers simply don't have to put up with
@blockygamez93898 ай бұрын
@@n_ex13 I'm not even saying Mojang should hire mod developers (they don't need to), I'm just saying that they aren't letting their developers make anything. I understand the team has to work on many seperate versions, and that bugfixing takes up the majority of any dev process, but when there is not much content added to what is supposed to be a major content update, it leaves a lot to be desired. Bugfixes are vital, but a lot of the time, they're completely unnoticable, especially to the more casual audience vanilla minecraft is geared towards. You can't exactly hold a bugfix in your hand like you can a new item. A game with lots of work done on bugfixing will be well polished, but it will still run the risk of growing stale to much of the audience if they don't spice it up by adding new engaging content. I don't think the devs aren't doing anything, I just think that depending on the update, there isn't as much work being done on adding new content as there could be.

To me, the whole "Minecraft was better back when it was simple and not filled with so much content like Terraria", are people that are way too nostalgic for the Alpha and beta versions of Minecraft. To me, as a Terraria player myself, I haven't even seen all of the content that game has. And that game has thousands of content. And I have completed that game multiple times already. So when you try to make an argument on how Minecraft is "over blotted with too much content", I just think that argument isn't really a great point. Especially if your a modern player that hasn't seen all of the possibilities of this game and haven't explored it fully. This game is supposed to be a game that is supposed to offer infinite possibilities. How can you run out of things to do when you haven't seen much of what Minecraft can offer? Unless your a player that plays like everyone else. Then if that's the case, then I think you need to get out of your comfort zone. Plus, I think more content for Minecraft isn't entirely a bad thing. For example. People, (like myself) wants an end update. And I think it's great if we get that massive amount of content. Plus, if it adds more depth and complexity to Minecraft, then that's pretty good in my eyes. And this is coming from a guy that has played this game since 2011. And your telling me that this game has way too much content? That by itself, baffles me ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Edit: Also, Mojang has a quality step by step process on how they do updates. So when Mojang releases the April Fool day updates, then they don't need to go through their step by step process on developing stuff into Updates. They can just release the update/features however they want in whatever time they can do it in. But with the standard updates that we get (that isn't April Fools Day updates), then that's a bit different. Because with the Standard Updates, Mojang has to go through a step by step process on developing these features into the updates. That includes, Mobs, Mechanics, Blocks and so much more feature that are new in whatever Update comes next. So for this video to say that Mojang can add more to updates when they have this step by step process is in my opinion, very dishonest and very misinformed/misguided. Also many Mojang employees has said this before on Twitter many times in the past. Including Kingbdogz. A Modder that has made the Ather mod for Minecraft Java Edition. In fact, this is the same idea with the Mob votes. The reason Mojang can't add all three is because of these principles. 1 Community Engagement: Voting allows players to have a direct say in the game's development, fostering a sense of community and investment in the game. Engaging players in the decision-making process helps build excitement and anticipation for new content. 2 Development Resources: Minecraft is a massive game with limited development resources. Adding new mobs involves significant time and effort for design, programming, and balancing. By having a vote, Mojang can prioritize the most desired features, ensuring that they focus their resources on content that will resonate most with players. 3 Game Balance: Introducing too many new mobs at once can disrupt the game's balance. By selecting a few at a time, Mojang can better assess how new mobs fit into the existing ecosystem and make necessary adjustments. 4 Content Quality: By limiting the number of new mobs introduced in each update, Mojang can devote more time to refining and polishing each one, ensuring a higher quality of content rather than overwhelming players with quantity. 5 Feedback and Iteration: The voting process allows Mojang to gauge player interest and feedback, which can inform future updates and features. This iterative approach helps them align their development with what the community wants.
