It's actually just adding some reverb and applying some filters to the sound effects. It's not actually simulating the individual echos. It does use ray-casting from sound sources, but the ray-cast data is just used to adjust the parameters of the reverb effects and filters.

Yessss I love Minecraft's sound design, it really does all of its vibes really well! I would watch literally 1000 more videos about minecraft’s sound design and sounds and probably would never get tired of them. They perfectly exercise the idea of “less is more”. Minecraft sound design includes some of the most satisfying sounds I’ve ever heard. And that’s isn’t only nostalgia talking: amethyst geodes(!!!!!!) piglins! And of course classic explosion or glass breaking sounds, all the mob sounds old and new, nether portal… and all the creepy cave sounds and mob sounds being scarier paired with the dark. I could go on. It’s fantastic.
