I know another way you could have escaped: 1. Craft a minecraft and rails. (5 iron and 6 iron + 1 stick) 2. use a vine to place on the one block to be able to place the rail on the "other side" of the block. 3. Place the minecraft on the rail. 4. Time for an insane clutch! Break the rail and get in the minecraft mid-air. If you fall, you die to the "void". If you enter the minecraft you will fall down to safety :D
