@@exeterrider We had the annual Great Dorset Steam Fair up here until recently. It was massive and the county was swarming with steam vehicles before and after. Sadly the money seems to have run out.

Nice one ER. Loved it. When I was in my early 20s (about 1976) I worked for Aveling Marshall (Formerly Known as Marshall Fowler, and before that as Marshall Sons and Company in Gainsborough Lincs). They were a heavy engineering company that back in the day were famous for steam traction engines and steam rollers. At the time working there in a consultative capacity was Henry Marshall, then in his 80s, the grandson of the founder of the company. He owned a Marshall steam driven traction engine, I believe from 1908. He had arranged to bring it to the factory for their public open day. I worked as a buyer at the time. I received a requisition from Henry to buy half a ton of "Welsh Dried Steam Coal". Of course, I had absolutely no idea what it was, or where to buy it. Henry very courtiously explained that it was a very dense coal from deep Welsh mines that was good for steam engines. It proved impossible to buy at that time. So he asked me to just get the best quality coal the merchants could give us. It just meant a bit more work feeding the coal and clearing the ash. Henry was a real gentleman in the real sense of the word. A pleasure to deal with, and a real font of knowledge. Also his traction engine was truly beautiful. You would have loved it.

There is an utter fascination on steam, the sound and smell totally ethereal. Proper engineering from when uk were leading engineers. I did travel on steam trains as a child in 60s with my grandparents. I regularly visit the Severn valley,ey steam railway where I live just to watch as the cost of the tickets is ridiculous. Even just watching, smelling and witnessing these awesome marvels of engineering. Nice one ER

Yes I do really, people sign up for motorbike stuff which I fully get , but my recent DIY vids for example are too far detached from the main theme ,so I click the "do not notify" subscriber box....I don't think its fair that folk have to watch that stuff ...this is different because it has wheels ha! I have more DIY stuff coming but again subs wont be notified. I could easily over saturate my self else and that would be un-succulent. At the same time...yes I hear what your saying mate : )

Oh, this made a nice change Exmouth, you riding on Oily Buster on your holidays ! Very interesting and something a bit different, I really enjoyed it. Woody had his work cut out driving the thing though, he was always twiddling one thing or another. Didn't look easy at all ! He seemed happy to chat about Buster at the same time though, seemed very enthusiastic and a lovely chap. It's a good idea for them to carry punters about in the summer to help keep Buster in good working order. I'm sure those rides are very popular with the big and little kids alike. Minehead looked really nice, can't say that I've ever been there ! Yet another great video, and not off topic for me. Okay so it wasn’t bike related, a good bit of variety doesn’t hurt anyone. If you love steam, just up the road, there’s the Lynton and Barnstable railway. It’s only a small operation at the moment (1 mile), but hopefully in the not too distant future it will extend a little further. Well worth a visit, if only for tea/coffee & cake in the Woodey Bay station cafe. Keep up the good work 👍🏻

Sounds and rides just like a Harley 🤣l used to work on steam generators a few years ago but gas fired so not as dirty, that looked great fun made a nice change 👍

Full on Bullet Wanderer video... There is something magical about engines without the need of something electric to support it. Pure diesel can be mechanical too but it's different. I don't know what will happen to this historical vehicles after the more strict ban after 2035 .. They will go after the old ones too..
