I know a decent amount about different types of batteries. Since both of my etrac batteries needed re-celled, i thought i would share on how to do this yourself at home for cheap. If you have any questions i would be glad to answer them for you. The batteries in an etrac are NIMH and they are 1.2 volts per cell. Its very important that they don't drop below 1 volt per cell for an extended period of time. The etrac has a cutoff so it doesn't ruin the batteries. If you are done detecting and the battery was dead, charge it when you get home. NIMH batteries slowly discharge on their own. When they sit without being charged is when they lose capacity. Also, it is important not to charge a etrac battery though the circuits in the pack beyond 800ma, the stock charger charges at 100 ma, that's why it takes so long.
