You make very good videos. You have a gift. I hope you continue to make them. I metal detect down here in Tennessee, It's the most relaxing thing I do to get my mind off of work and the daily grind. I've found some great stuff, but it's not always about the finds for me. Sometimes just getting out in nature is enough.
@squarenailsquirrel96384 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I’ll continue to make them as time and life allows. Typically during summer I don’t detect as much... more of a seasonal thing for me timed by farm fields without crops and woods not filled with mosquitoes.

Something different to try... helps me out having the threshold of most probable “good” finds being a higher tone. My square nails and flat half dollar sized iron fall in that 13,14,15 range a lot with 16 being the “good” threshold. There are still great finds below 16... but moving the threshold keeps my mental game on par after fatigue sets in.

Hi, Great video , thank you for taking the time to post it. I found a 3 cent nickel the other day with the 800 using the 6" . It was dead repeating 3-4 . I was surprised that low nothing else was in the hole as far as iron. But maybe because it was slightly corroded? I just wanted to mention it when you said you blocked tones below 9. Look forward to your next videos. Thanks again for posting.
@squarenailsquirrel96384 жыл бұрын
I might need to expand my target IDs and except below nine more often just to see what comes out. I typically reject those numbers because I spent so much time digging trash when I am accepting them
@bobalmendinger49304 жыл бұрын
Square Nail Squirrel I have been hunting the same abandoned fairgrounds for 30 + years. I'm still finding things . It's amazing what's under the iron so to speak. I got a seated dime and a half dime mixed in with nails . My friend snagged a twenty cent silver amongst the iron and old square nails. I had a shield nickel read at a 6-7 at 8" , then went to a 10 once I started to get it in overered . There is a lot of junk though . You got that right. Do you use the 90 degree method to check the numbers to see if it changes

Thank you... 🙂👍🏻 There has been times it gets frustrating but what I have found is that taking a break every once in awhile keeps me from getting worn out making videos. Typically the summer isn’t my hunting season unless I do a hunt here or there... so I break during that period and focus on gaining permissions. Then when the ground is soft and crops are harvested... I get back out.

Just watched Rye grass rematch. I really have a blast watching your videos even when you don't find much. Got a couple of questions for you. #1 Sometimes you spray your finds with the spray bottle. What is in the bottle? Just plain water or water and vinegar? Also what is the largest square nail that you've found? Thanks

Enjoy it, I going to dig those 30’s
@squarenailsquirrel96384 жыл бұрын
Make sure to pin point... find center of what is responding in the 30’s. Then when not in pin point (in discriminate mode) sweep the center of the all metal pin pointed location. Make sure your not getting the 30’s signal 6-10” away from the targets location... if so... your getting big iron halo effect. If you get a 30’s ID right where the machine pin points your probability for a great find just drew an ace from the deck.

Hello Kenny, just now subscribed to your channel. Very interesting videos. Thanks. What is the brand/ model of your shovel. It looks to very well designed for field use.
@squarenailsquirrel96384 жыл бұрын
I am not into reinventing wheels because a shovel is pretty much just a shovel no matter how much you pay for it. If you click the videos tab and look back into my videos you will find a full description of my shovel as well as how to make it. You might have $30 invested by the time you’re done and they actually last because I put mine through the ringer for the past three years and it’s done perfectly fine.

Great video! Did you ever hear of Andre's pencils or ever think about using them?
@squarenailsquirrel96384 жыл бұрын
Yes... I’ve used them. After my $24 Amazon purchase of them I soon after wore the 1 usable pencil out. I now use 0000 steel wool palm rolled on a flat surface to make essentially what the pencils are. $5 for a 10 year supply of coin cleaning assistance. I use a toothpick to help out the wool as well as tissues that have lotion. My video of cleaning crusty coppers shows the Andres pencils.

Enjoy your videos. I’m curious. Why don’t you search in F2 iron bias mode?
@jcqpublic4 жыл бұрын
It knocks out some signals you may want to dig.
@squarenailsquirrel96384 жыл бұрын
With iron bias the algorithm dealing with aggressiveness to discriminate iron is increased. Not that I love to dig rusty iron... but I do like to hear coins that are deep which have heavy corrosion levels. Heavily corroded coins and other items of interest can be disc’d out or sound of scratchy... when in actuality I want to hear them clearly.
