Now that’s got to be the best video of determination and hope that I have seen from anyone metal detecting! Wow Kenny what a great call on finding this house site with no proof on paper. You really cleaned up on those large cents, the Nox is definitely a producer. Thanks so much for the great videos and yours are actually the best I’ve seen. You show your settings before each hunt and also show the VDI numbers associated with the finds. A lot of people don’t realize how much goes into producing a video of your stature. It’s one thing to have someone video your detecting but your doing it yourself lol. Your work is greatly appreciated on my home front that’s for sure, thank you my friend.

Great surprise site, that is exactly why I always keep my eyes on the ground! A four copper day is a rarirty, I have only had one day like that in decades of hunting. I pulled 3 1820's-30's US coppers and a British 1813 cent from a small riverside camp site on a buddy's permission on the Portage River. The Civil War tokens are also a favorite of mine to dig. Once again, excellent video work.

I try my best with every video to speak in terms of somebody that’s been thinking about getting a metal detector or even folks that I’ve been detecting for 40 years. You have probably noticed that the first two hours of my hunt is different than the last two hours of my hunt. Everything from mental and physical fatigue to all the frustrations while I’m out there sometime to get to me and shortens my Explanations as well as narrations.

Nice hunting, SNS, and even better job persevering with the permission! Great demonstration of how rewarding it can be to take the time and walk the entire site and keeping your eyes peeled...it paid off with a fantastic home site, and landed a ton of additional fields to investigate for you. Can’t wait to see what those other sites hold, but giddy-up...I’ve definitely seen some farmers out planting already, at least here in NW Ohio. Might have to hold them in reserve until Fall. The Largies are incredible - and 4 on one hunt is stellar!! The two Civil War tokens have me drooling - I still can’t get my coil over one :) But my favorite really is that blue glass button! Such a cool, unique find, and seems to be in fantastic shape - yet another great example of the benefits of keeping your eyes on the ground while detecting. Some of the neatest items I’ve found hunting in fields have been incidental, non-metallic items sitting on the surface. Thanks for another fun, information rich video!

The school site has been worked ultra hard and there is nothing left from what I could tell. The debris field is large and very identifiable. I’m definitely happy to get the permission for the rest the farm although I was notified later that someone has metal detected it out there before... maybe. I don’t remember anybody ever coming back or seeing them out there actually metal detecting. I know from my research there’s about four places that are able to be hunted although the rain is keeping me from going out as well as crops soon to be planted. Even if I can’t get to them this year they will still be there this fall

From what I have found on dairy farms, they keep huge tanks of liquid that is actually manure. The main source over the whole time it’s been a dairy farm is manure and not harsh chemicals or nitrates. In my opinion I believe that is why most of these coins Are not ate up.

Good luck on any future hunts that you have coming up, I believe you and I have spoke on Facebook so if you end up getting some wins let me know about it. With any machine it takes time to understand it and speak its language.. Take your time and ease into the machine with no expectations. When you do start hunting with it just focus on the operation Of the machine and learning it, the machine will do it’s job... it’s up to you to do your part as an operator. This is the only advice I can stress highly

Hi Kenny, I am a V3i owner and have watched all your videos. I am thinking of pulling the trigger on a Nox 800. I know you use both. The reasons I want a Nox is for tge waterproof ability and Bluetooth functionality. I use bone conduction Bluetooth headphones which keep my ears open so I can hear my detector and still listen to my surroundings. So when someone talks to me or I want to hear my pinpointer I can. Only problem is with the V3i my Bluetooth transmitter only lasts 3 hours and adds to the weight of the detector. My question is what is the learning curve like with the Nox 800? Its taken me over a year to get the V3i down to where I am comfortable with it. Thanks for your videos! Keep it up.
@squarenailsquirrel96384 жыл бұрын
If you understand your V3i you will transition to the equinox well... some of the terminology is different although the items are one and the same. Settings are much simpler once you read the digital manual ( I don't like a digital manual) and understand what actually can be set. Don't get confused by the machine not having as many available settings as your current machine.. that is no way means less settings are less powerful. In the field is where you will need some hours clocked to get used to the operation. The Equinox is one loud creature with a lot of noise on each swing although it is all data. You will know what to dig because it hits like a freight train and the rest of the noise you let go unless you get one that would be considered an iffy. The target ID scale (VDI) is compressed so be ready to dig a lot of zinc pennies if in a park hunting wheats... it's hard to tell them apart unless going by depth on age of target. The two machines are two different creatures and like with any machine there will be a learning curve along with frustrations. I still haven't used my wireless equinox headphones since I make video and use the speaker for viewers to hear my tones so I can't comment on them.

@squarenailsquirrel96384 жыл бұрын
The processor is light years ahead of what I was using (three hours of in hand use... you would understand), five frequencies versus three, it doesn’t feel like a cinderblock and more like a feather, onboard modern battery source that last forever and if needed to be replaced ..easily done, I can update my machine by plugging it into my computer, the settings are exactly what I need to be using instead of screen colors and all the other 10,000 settings that I previously had to understand. Overall after owning the previous machine since 2011 and dedicating all kinds of time to understanding it, I never was confident with what I was doing because I was always second-guessing each hunt... which is detrimental to staying in the hobby. With the new machine I never second-guess myself and the overall experience of the hunt is exponentially better. Everybody complains that the new machine doesn’t go very deep but I’ve had some very deep targets and I’m confident that if there’s something there it’s going to hit it. Internet experts everywhere... and I stress that I’m only an opinion. The ease of use of the machine as well as the setup to get me up and running... to do when I’m there to do which is metal detect and not programming. The amount of stuff that I find that is not always coins but everything, that I want to find has increased greatly. You would not believe the separation that this machine has on it even with a large coil, it’s unreal. I don’t sell these machines or have anybody that sponsors me but if somebody’s going to get in the metal detecting and not lose interest after six months, I would suggest a couple machines with one of them definitely being what I use or the 600 model. The success rate probability after you find a site that might be productive is greatly increased. With any machine you can be successful but in my opinion only because I know it, I put my full interest in the Hobby on the performance of the machine that I’m using now. Nobody is out there doing what I do to only enjoy the scenery, it’s nice out there but we all want to find stuff.

Would like to pick your brain about old maps and what not. I seen in some of your videos you talk about old atlas's where can I find these for the state of Oklahoma?

Check out the video "Find a place to metal detect research" down in the videos list from possibly last year.. your answer will be there as well as many other tools you will want to know about.

Another awesome video. Can I ask how you are able to get such great audio with the camera on a tripod? Do you use another device perhaps to record via bluetooth?

I’m glad that you are inspired by the videos that I am making. The hobby is a lot of fun and once the bug is us.. it sticks with us our whole lives. I’m getting towards my point in the year where I take a break from making videos so there will be a few this summer but I will start back full force again sometime in the fall.
