A short video on how I use the new stabiliser feature in Minelab's latest Manticore software update.
One of the problems reported by users was that some soils containing habitation remnants like small nails, burnt/hot rocks and pottery (ceramics) made the audio very noisy when searching in all-metal.
The easiest way to control this was simply to reduce sensitivity or turn the Iron Volume to 1. But the later undermined the very reason for using All-Metal in the first place; to enrich the audio, especially when trying to separate ferrous from non-ferrous objects.
The new settings which can be found under 'Ferrous Tones' after 'Ferrous Volume' and 'Ferrous Pitch.'
The stabiliser has two abilities; one filters the unwanted noise (Filter), the second suppresses them and eventually muting them to static at higher settings (Mute.)
When the 'Stabiliser Filter is switched to OFF' the audio detections are suppressed not filtered, so ground noise can be muted.
In this video I show how you can control the feedback noise from the ground without reducing sensitivity. There are a lot of other videos on KZbin that show high settings (with the filter ON) that annihilate iron falsing... but in use I find the muting effect (filter OFF) on ground noise more useful and less detrimental to deep targets.
