I had the Minelab ProFind 35 & absolutely hated it. There wasn’t anything I liked about it. The round handle makes it almost impossible to find the button without having to look at the pinpointer. Then when you find the button they were hard to press with gloves on. Also, I did not like the sound. Way to loud and annoying. Wish you could adjust the volume. The only thing I liked about it was the ferrous / non ferrous tones, but If you’re hunting in heavy iron it didn’t help much. I do like the red over the yellow. I will give them that. You would think they would completely go back to the drawing board & redesign their pinpointers. You don’t see many using Minelab pinpointers & there is a reason for that.

I don't know about anyone else, but I find pinpointer beeps WAY too loud. I would love a volume control feature. I actually stuck a small self adhesive rubber dot over the speaker hole on my 35 to quiet it down, and on my Garrett I put a piece of closed cell foam under the removable speaker guard.

I am a bit the same @Scoopy Joe and generally just hunt with it on vibrate mode mate. The profinds hit super hard though, so no worries about missing your target in the hole👍 Cheers heaps for watching mate.

What happens when it dies out in the field? I do like rechargeable Metal detectors, but when it comes to pinpointers I like battery operated ones. I have the Garrett AT & the Tek Point & love the AA batteries for the Tek Point.

I watched your explanation on the 'rapid retune' feature, but I think you may have left out a most important benefit of the rapid retune ability of the Pro-find 40's adaptive pinpoint capability. I see this as a most valuable feature whereby I set the sensitivity to No 5 and I hit my target 50mm away. My options now are to either reduce sensitivity manually back to 3 or 4 or just hold my position and perform a 'rapid retune' which will guide me to the target

Hi Luke, glad they improved the speaker, I love my pro find 35 but the speaker didn’t impress during those wet muddy hunts, it gets blocked with mud and if you didn’t clean it when you get home it’s toast, on a nother use my 35 has saved my dog, I used it to find a steel disc in here guts which saved her life because it was a rapid vet visit and surgery to take out a fifty cent sized old dog tag she swallowed, it was aluminium because the Nox was telling me it’s a 18 19 signal

Hi there @MD MELBOURNE thanks heaps for watching mate. I must admit the new red colour, increased depth, plus rapid re-tune button on the new Pro-find-40 are all winner ideas in my eyes. I can't wait to start testing it out for future🙌 I do agree though mate, the speaker is generally very easily packed full of mud whilst out hunting, making that speaker sound off a little quieter. However I generally don't run my pp with the sound, only use the vibrate mode. As I find them to be too loud😆 I must be getting old! That is just truly amazing to mate!! I've heard of metal detectors finding coins that kids may have accidentally swallowed but never saving a dog's life🙌 A very cool story. Thanks so much for sharing. No speaking of its biggest feature ferrous ID alert vs non-ferrous ID! Must be a VLF pin-pointer to have discrimination like this. Only reason for me to consider adding this pin pointer to my fleet of others. My Gerrit 🥕 is still used 99% of the time on dry land. Cheers, #SeattleRingHunter

MMM. Garrett Pro Pointer has had the feature for like 5 years? I was really hoping the pointer would have Bluetooth feature or at least sync up the the equinox Headsets.....

having used a pulsedive i prefer the depth mode beeps to beep how many times the mode level it is. As this goes you have to go to either zero or five to know where you are, then move from there.

the speaker hole seems to be right where dirty muddy hands will hold it , and i don't see a loop anywhere for connecting a cable to so i don't lose it .

Has the 40 fixed the dickey battery connection issues or do I still need to install blobs of aluminium foil around the pins, like both of my 30s need?

Thanks for watching @Zieg Mitfahrer the new 40 is super impressive and I can't wait to test it out for future. I have used the 35s for over 5 years now and had a few little issues. But unfortunately never heard of the connection issues mentioned mate. Could it be the type of 9v batt being used? ...i generally just use the cheap 9v batteries from Kmart and they work great.

@@DigItDetecting I don't use a particular breed of battery but try to get whatever good name/spec one is available. I go for shelf life because I carry a few spares in the truck. I've noticed that some batteries don't align or fit into the holes surrounding the 35's terminals. This is evident by the lack of "spring" and the battery not going in enough for a proper cap seal. I know what you're thinking, but I AM putting it in the right way around. Sometime squishing the big negative battery terminal with pliers helps but out of curiosity I've also improved the contact area with the aforementioned blobs of foil. It could just be coincidence, but I've noticed a marked decrease in episodes of the gadget going ape-poo, needing a reboot. I'll definitely give the Kmart cheapos a shot in future. Cheers for that.

Good idea carrying a few spares @Zieg Mitfahrer I never leave home without one in my pocket for the day when hunting either mate. Just never know when you will need it🙂 Strange that the connections not being made properly for your 35 either mate. Sorry to hear you have had issues with it in the past, as it can make those days out detecting frustrating sometimes. Hopefully the Kmart batteries you will find work well in future for you though. For memory you can buy 3 batteries for around $3 branded Anko. Best of luck and happy digging out there mate👍⛏️

Thanks for your reply. All I originally said was I hope the 40 is better than the 35. Based on my experience, I've had 2, they both were defective. I have an old 25 that performs better. The only time I have seen anyone use the 35 is from Minelab sponsored individuals. The guy and woman with the minelab clothing and minelab pickup truck, sod busters, and similar are not of interest. You have noticed, I'm guessing, that everyone on KZbin and with decades of experience normally use the Garrett Carrot. There is a reason for that. Minelab makes a great detector. I have more than one. However, their pinpointers are nothing I'd carry. Maybe the 40 is going to be different. If the 35 didn't come with the bloated detector packages, I'd own none of them. Some sites metal detect and never, ever, mention names, brands, etc. I enjoy and subscribe to many. Others, always feature the coil, detector, latest product, etc. and push the sale like it's what you should buy. Takes a minute to tell what your viewing. How many times do you mention Minelab each video? Nobody does that who just detects. Your a captured site. I don't hold that against you, just be honest. Minelab cannot own the best of everything. It's your livelihood. That's great. Newbies to the hobby won't know the difference. If I had a friend that I didn't want to lose, I'd tell him to get the equinxox 800 and the Garrett Carrot pinpointer. The 900 and Manticore are just marketing and doesn't justify the addition money with ability above the 800. Or, 600 for non-gold hunters. But, nobody pays me for opinions, just 25 years of experience talking. Not sure what exactly you find that I'm wrong about, but guessing sponsors read your content. As for my original comment, they do not exist on my computer, maybe Minelab filtered it. You will note, I did complement Minelab for their fantastic service. However, they just sent me a second defective pinpointer. I learned a lesson and went back to the best on the market currently available. Didn't bother sending the 2nd on back, as I'd never have confidence to ever carry it, as they both had the same inherent defect.

It looks good, not rechargeable ?? Like the colour, my PulseDive has the retune button, well as does the Dr Otek MT6 PRO so that's great when there's EMI , wife had the 20 and hated it so would be interesting to try one out, good review thanks, the pinpointer war is hoting up so will be interesting, the new Nokta Acupoint looks good on paper but there dragging their heels a bit getting it out, anyway I watch with interest 👍👍

3:30 would be good to remind operators to place the tip on the ground while quick pressing the power button for a ground balance. Better performance possibly yet maybe negligible to ground balancing with the tip in the air. Depends about on your soil conditions.

Just a make over of the 35, i had 2 first kept turning itself off the next one after a few months the case started to crack! Now i LOVE my Equinox 800 but the pinpointers seem like they were outsourced to someone else to make! Even dealers in the UK dont recommend them!!

I've got 2 of them now but no one ever mentions you now have to press the on button twice when switching it on now :-/ press it once it'll turn on but won't detect anything until you hear a 2nd beat and press it again. What's up with that? It's annoying :-/

I don’t know why people want a rechargeable pin pointer. When it dies in the field, you’ll need a backup pointer. I have rechargeable 9v batteries and an extra battery in my finds pouch. My question is, is the battery cap as impossible to take off as the 35?

I agree with you there @Dennis Lyman I think the replaceable 9v batteries are great. I always carry a spare on me and never had an issue. The battery cap has also been improved with the 40 i've noticed. Not only does it have a different plastic moulded grip, but less thread. So with a few quick turns, it is completely off👌 I will be doing a full comparison video very soon on my channel, now I've had time to use the new 40 and form an opinion myself. I look forward to sharing soon👍⛏️

The red is not for everyone im sure @Mark Stevenson and the yellow sure does stand out great in the grass. Maybe a good test I can do one day on video, is see how noticeable the two different colours are and how easy they are spot from a little way away in the grass. It would of been great to see a rechargeable unit this time round @Mick however I just purcahse cheap old 9v batteries from kmart and they seem to last weeks worth of hunting. Not a huge issue for me and I'm loving the new rapid re-tune button👌
