What I don't understand. If pyrites have iron or copper in them ,then why is the metal ditector not beeping to recognize it .

For a mineral to be detected using a metal detector, it needs to be conductive. Pyrite, being a compound of iron and sulfur, is not conductive to the level detectable by a metal detector.

I have a pyrite cube and it has whitish residue on one side, could that be sulfur? And would it mean it's toxic and one should wash hands after touching this crystal?

It could also be quartz or smthn
