Wouldn't work for the same reason you can't have a 9 or a -1 in a regular liar. 12 is the max, so if the hint is a 12 it has to be an 11.

I love the under/over notation you developed! I had a puzzle thing which involved a similar concept (One-Off Yajilin, part of the MIT Puzzle Hunt this year), and I had a lot of trouble just keeping track of the board and which numbers were which. This notation is so much better than just trying to write the numbers overtop of what was already there!

8:34 "is the game suggesting 1,3 must share the 2 mines?" - no, the game is 'suggesting' that it is an unsolveable puzzle (assuming you have done no error so far). So you need to step through the actual possible boards to find commonalities (forAll) instead. A. The 1,3 can be a 0,2 which is already fulfilled, with 2 remaining mines at the topleft 3 (making it a 4). And there are 6 permutations of those boards. B. Or it can be the same 0,2, but with no mines at the topleft 3 (making it a 2). Leaving the mines in the entirely unknown cells. And there are 3 permutations of those boards. C. Or, as you say, the 3,1 can be a 2,4, sharing the two remaining mines, from which the topleft 3 then says it *must share them too,* giving us their exact position (and making it a 4). Which as you say, proves that the cell below the 1,3 can't be a mine. You trying to open left to topleft 3 (which made you lose) proved that option A was correct (or you finally enabled the guess-disabling ruleset), specifically 1 out of 3 different permutations where that cell is a flag. edit: seems you caught up to your own spoken logic (quite) a bit later, and did indeed find that you could open the cell below the 1,3.

I recommend trying Masyu puzzles. It’s kinda like Sudoku and Minesweeper except there’s no numbers involved and you need to make a single closed loop based on the empty and shaded dots on the grid. If there is an empty dot then that means the path crosses straight through it and bends on at least one side, if it’s a shaded dot then the path must bend through it and continue straight for 2 spaces before it may turn again. There can only be one giant loop so you can’t form a closed loop that doesn’t pass through each circle.

One thing that really helped me with the Liar puzzles and which may have made things clearer for the viewers that I'm surprised you didn't do in some form is using the paint tool to write the actual values in the corner next to each number as I deduced them (at least for important cells, though I personally did it for all of them). Edit: Ah, you eventually did something close at the very end for the 8x8.

There is game feature that makes it that if you click on a number that has a definite outcome, such as a 3 with 3 empty spaces it will fill all spaces instantly which feels really good to use. It also works for every variant so if there is a 4 on the chessboard variant with three blacks and a white it'll automatically fill the white but leave the blacks. Anyway just a cool feature I found with some examples. It has more applications in the other variants.

This variant has... rather interesting logic to it. I like how it jumped out of the normal logic of min-max cells into the switch-case study. A nice refresh that still retains the spirit of minesweeper I would say. However, I think the logic in L7 and L8 is venturing near the dangerous zone of trial-and-error.

Like, he's constantly explaining how two states of things cannot simultaneously be true. Which honestly makes me interested in his political opinions. Ive noticed a lot in politics its a matter of the fact that people dont see contradictions, or think they are justified when there's no logical way to justify it.
