From what I can understand about this parody and the animation to go with it is this: Steve set out by himself to find diamond and other ores, but, to his rejection, finds nothing but stone and some coal. After searching for days, or even weeks, we starts to lose his sanity. He starts to rely on imaginary versions of himself (all the other Steves) to do the mining for him. (This can be noted by how no Steve has made any progress mining what-so-ever.) He gives the "Steves" no rest at all, and in himself, furthering his insanity. He goes to the point of imagining that his lowly pieces of coal are the shiny, blue crystals he longs for. (His showing the Steves mining a diamond, but it flashes to him showing a piece of coal around at nothing) Desperate, longing for the urge to find the minerals he needs, he results to his last resource, TNT. Setting a block of the explosive in the middle of the cave he is mining in, he explodes the floor to another cave. Therefore, meeting the band. (This could mean Steve died in the explosion or the fall, or actually met a band playing in a cave)

I remember hearing this song in 2014 right after visiting Montana. While we were in Montana, we stayed in a mountain town. The town used to be a mining town, so there were plenty of massive mines in the surrounding mountains. The nostalgia, damn, 2014 was a great year 😄
