The one on the right is very clearly running at a higher fps. Pretty easy to test just run this video at 0.25 speed. The stutter is likely caused by the driver itself, or simhub not correctly able to render it. For 15 pounds that thing is really impressive

Ali also has a $22 7" IPS HDMI screen sans a case (takes a port on your video card). Not sure if that would be worth reviewing on the channel. If doesn't have free shipping but that is $11 USD to USA, so total is $33 USD after the normal new user coupon. You'd need to figure out a way to 3D print the case that fits it.

Thanks Jon, that's an excellent suggestion, and right on the mark for the kind of stuff I like to lark about with on the channel. I also found a listing for that screen with an enclosure for a few more bucks. I've added it to my wish list for now, as I have a ridiculously long video to-do-list to plough through.

VoCore has a new 6.8" USB screen for pre-order. The new screen does not have the extra border on the one side of the screen like both the 5" and 4.3" models have, versus their original 4" that didn't have it. Worth noting, but this AX206 works great but it could have a better better color and refresh rate and mainly I would like a bit larger size. Wish they made a 5", 6" or 6.8" model! It would be sweet if you could get a review of the VoCore 6.8" no doubt. Hint, hint.

Can the orientation of the AX206 screen be flipped 180 degrees in SimHub? Since the power cable plugs in to the left side of the case I did not have enough clearance to side mount it, so I had to flip it around which displays the startup screen upside down. Does SH have a way to set the screen orientation for USB screens like the AX206, or if not can I edit a dashboard and flip it 180 degrees?
@SimRacingCorner2 жыл бұрын
Indeed you can, SimHub supports the screen with portrait/landscape modes and 180 degrees flipping.
@jonferraez2 жыл бұрын
I see the 180 flip option now at 8:01 in the video just below where you enabled the display in Dash Studio > AX206 tab. I was hoping I would not have to duplicate dashboards and edit them just to make them flipped and name them specially. Thanks!

Great review, snagged one as soon as I saw the price, as this is half the VoCore for the similar size plus comes in a case already. Total was $17 USD shipped after $2.50 new user coupon. Can you supply your custom SimHub dashboard, the original seen early in the video showing the lap timer, lap times and temps, and the other dashboard that shows the radar? Or at least point to the location to download those two. Licensed SimHub supports up to 60fps, unlicensed is limited to 30fps, but neither of these hardware wise can do more that 25fps. Maybe the differences in some dashboards speed is due the GPU or memory on the AX206 versus the VoCore for the frame rate differences? It could be their current driver. Thanks!

Hi Jon. Check the video description, I've just added download links for the two dashboards. Enjoy.👍

@@SimRacingCornermy AX206 (3.5" IPS in acrylic case) screen arrived today, it only took two weeks to get to USA with free shipping, the screen is certainly small compared to my 7" HDMI primary screen that is for sure. I will try out your SimHub dashboard downloads in the description. I'm guessing that I will get the same lag on certain dashboards like your primary one you showed, but will let you know if it doesn't lag. It comes in an acrylic case and looks well made, also includes a 3' micro USB to USB A cable. Thanks!

I find that a 7" IPS screen (can be had for under $25 now) makes for a very optimal sized sim dashboard for me. A smaller screen like this AX206 or a 4" or 5" VoCore can compliment a larger one, in my case I side mounted my AX206 that arrived today to the left side of my 7" IPS HDMI screen, which is center mounted using the standard two M6 mounting holes on my CSL DD base. This way the main large screen can display a bunch of telemetry and rev meters and the secondary side mounted display can display the radar and map only or just one important thing, maybe even the leaderboard or race positions. I don't like switching between different pages on my dashboads while racing, even though SimHub and most dashes do have multiple pages per dash to switch between with a button on my wheel to change pages per dashboard, I find it a bit distracting so I avoid changing it once in a race so in that case I find that it helps to have two screens acting as dashboards, which the author of this video also does, with VoCore 4" mounted on top center of the wheelbase, and a tablet mounted on the right, and a small dash inside his button box, all displaying different dashboards and serving different purposes.

VoCore makes a similar 5" USB screen for 2.5 times the price as this, direct from the company website. Cases are a bit hard to find though for that model, like one that can mount to a particular wheel base directly, but there are a couple to 3D print on a very popular STL files website with verse in the name. I suggest 7" HDMI screen, if you search KZbin for 7" dashboard sim you will find it, it costs under $80 USD if you can 3D print the case on the popular STL printing website that has verse in the name, and the screen is IPS and can achieve a very high FPS, and has no lag, with SimHub. The advantage of the cheap screen in this video is video is A. It comes in an enclosure which you are going to need as the parts are delicate, and the VoCore don't come that way, B. It is 50% less than the equivalent VoCore model and C. it comes in a 3D printed case already at that price, and it would be easy to mount as it is very light and small so you could just double side tape it to something even, versus a heavy 7" screen or tablet that is going to need a case and way to mount it, and D. it uses USB versus some other larger dashboards that use HDMI, which requires you to have those ports free on your video card, and some users may be out of close to out of those ports. The 3.5" screen can also be used as a secondary dashboard, which I plan to do just to supplement my main 7" dashboard mounted on the factory front holes on CSL DD base, and this 3.5" be the secondary one that only shows one thing on it, like the radar + track map SimHub dashboard the author posted on the video description, as seen in the first example in this video.
@jonferraez2 жыл бұрын
Ali has a 7" HDMI screen for $22 USD + $11 USD shipping (I commented on it in the main comments today). It of course is not a USB screen which has some advantages, and can have some disadvantages (like the lag seen in this video). The largest sized USB screen I've ever seen is a 5", which is made by VoCore. 7" is a very nice size for a sim dashboard screen I find. A smaller screen like around 4" can compliment a larger one, in my case I side mounted my AX206 that arrived today to the left side of my 7" HDMI screen, which is center mounted using the standard holes on my CSL DD base. This way the large screen can display a bunch of telemetry and rev meters and the secondary side mounted display can display the radar and map only. If I can suggest a really good case for a 7" IPS HDMI screen that mounts beautifully to a CSL DD base using standard front M6 mount holes, on the website that rhymes with "thing" and "verse", search there for 7" sim dashboard. In my opinion 3.5" is not large enough for your main sim dashboard screen, better to go with 5" or 7". A 3.5" like this AX206 can complement a larger screen though.
