MINHO | 'Chase' MV + Intro: Illusion of Reality REACTION | This took a dark turn quick!

My interpretation of the video is that Minho's girlfriend died in a car accident which he was also involved in. He has immense trauma and survivor's guilt over having to live without her. He lives in a sort of illusion where he goes back to the places they loved together (the bar), constantly searching for her. But, he never find her. Every girl he thinks is her, isn't. So, he is constantly thrown out of the bar by the bouncers for, in their opinion, harassing these women. By the end, he is so tormented and haunted by her memory that he picks up the gun, perhaps to end his own life, but at that moment, she tells him to let her go. Begrudgingly (and this part is particularly well acted--his face shows so much pain), he shoots at the mirror--the illusion of her--thus accepting reality that she is really gone.

He wouldn’t have shot himself at the end, especially after what SHINee went through. He mentioned to pay attention to the watch - it’s important to the story. ❤️‍🔥 I’m so glad you caught on the second time-it can be difficult to notice everything the first time when you’re trying to take everything in: the vocals, instrumentals, lyrics, and the videos storyline. Minho’s an incredible storyteller…to have put that much emotion as delicately as he did shows a true gift. The director sent several versions before Minho eventually went to the editing room himself to direct the storyline the way HE wanted it to come across. He was adamant about showcasing his vision…even so much as bucking against the company’s wishes for choreography in the MV.

I think we are meant to think that he is thinking about shooting himself, but there is NO WAY, he would have or did. There is not a chance in hell there would be a suicide in a video that Minho was part of.

I cannot even tell you how proud of him I am. The album is fantastic, his voice is EVERYTHING, the video incredible and honestly, what a goddamned talent this man has; writing, acting, singing, dancing, directing. He kept sending the video back to be edited until the storyline was "correct", and yeah, I am just, MINHO I NEED MORE.

As I see it, Minho's "Chase" MV is about being chased and sort of haunted by the memory of his past love. I also see it connected to the storyline in his pre-release "Heartbreak" MV. The girl broke up with him and he keeps chasing after the memories of her and the good times when they were in love. He keeps going to the bar where he has good memories of her and he gets beat up because he is disturbing people, as you see him walk up to that couple in the bar thinking the girl was his past lover. The guys who are beating him up are trying to prevent him from coming back or entering the bar, but he won't stop, so they have to use force. Fun fact: Notice how the sign outside the bar/the name of the bar says, "The last piece of the puzzle" referring to the fact that Minho was the last of the SHINee members to have a solo debut and that his album completes Jonghyun's legacy of making all the members solo debut album titles rhyme -- Taemin Ace, Jonghyun Base, Key Face, Onew Voice and now Minho Chase. In the beginning you see Minho and the girl lying on the bed, but if you notice Minho is staring at the girl but the girl is looking into the camera, which is over his shoulder. I see this as symbolizing how, even though it might look like things are OK and Minho might feel like they are still in love, the girl has already checked out of the relationship and she already has one foot out the door. The relationship was long over at that point. So Minho is struggling to accept what happened. He was still in love when she had fallen out of love. With everything that SHINee has been through, Minho's storyline would have never depicted any form of suicide. He was shooting the memories that have kept him stuck in the perpetual loop, not killing himself. After being sent several drafts of this MV by the director, Minho went to the editing studio himself and actually directed the storyline the way he envisioned the story. So everything you see was designed by him. He even made the decision to not include choreography in the MV in order to make the story more cinematic. Now you need to watch a live comeback stage or a fancam video of his recent fan meeting to see the choreography for this song. Because even though there is no dancing in the MV, Minho has some very cool choreography to go with the song.

his gf died in a car accident and he was kinda haunted by that. he was tortured by the memories of his gf and kept looking for her everywhere. he encountered a car accident again and flashed back to his gf. in the end he kinda couldnt take this anymore. he wanted to stop chasing her and wanted her to stop chasing him. he wanted to move on so he shot her reflection in the mirror. what a dark story 😢

I also wonder why it took SM almost 15 years to release a Minho solo album!!! Although KEY and Onew also only released their solo albums “recently” in 2018, and soon after both went to the army… Anyway, you can’t understand SM, it seems that it sabotages its artists… About the intro, I LOVED it! 😍 I love suspense movies and the vibe that this preview showed me was perfect!! Usually these previews are more related to the visual concept of the album than the MV itself! CHASE for me has many deep meanings related to Minho, SHINee, Jonghyun and etc. As he was the last member to be officially released as a solo artist, Minho carries the responsibility of “closing” this cycle in the best possible way and, for me, he did it! Thank you SO MUCH for your reaction and for deciding to react to the album directly on KZbin! Minho deserves all the praise he's getting with this debut and seeing a lot of people enjoying his solo songs makes me happy 🥰

Minho is my ultimate bias in SHINee, so hearing a full body of work from him is gonna be awesome. I’ll be honest, it’s not my favorite from the album, but I do see the appeal of it as the opener for Chase (the album). He sounds very pretty here though.
