I feel like tonsillitis has a reputation of being annoying but nothing major, when actually it’s such a b*tch of an illness - I nearly had to be taken to A&E with it once bc it closed my whole airway and I couldn’t breathe 🙄 you have my full sympathies Jack and glad you’re on the mend!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you for re-introducing me to the love of reading! I haven't picked up a book in a long time (I read one book last year), and read The Song of Achilles after you raving about it for all of 2021, haha! I bought and read it in the first week of January and it was so beautifully written... I ended up getting a library card shortly after finishing it, and I'm already 4 books in for 2022! I'm just so happy to refind a passion that I once had, and it was from you being so excited about books. It's contagious! You are awesome. Thanks again!

I had tonsillitis a lot of times some years ago and it was grim. Found out what helps me prevent getting it, alongside enough sleep and low stress levels, is sage tea! So like dry sage leaves, you can get it in health food/organic shops. Hope this helps someone!

I'd love to see you review Dana Schwartz's book! It just came out and is getting good reviews so I really want to get it- plus, I love Dana. But I'd love to hear your perspective on it! Maybe it could fit into a "reviewing youtuber books" style video for books by podcast hosts? Also, it's been a really rough day (there's been a sh00ting at a uni a ton of my friends go to) and I appreciate the cozy video. This channel is honestly such a bright spot, calms me down and gives me reading inspiration all the time. Thanks for creating this space, Jack.

I can relate to the whole tonsillitis thing! I moved from England to Australia when I was 12, so I live here now and it’s my summer holiday. I went to Sydney to see my grandparents and four days in my appendix ruptured and I nearly died. It’s been over a month and I’m still not recovered and it was intensely painful

I recommend you another book by Franzen: It's titled'Purity'. tbh I first bought it because no other than Tom Hiddleston recommended it during an interview or a panel, but turns out, I really enjoyed it. It has even some sentences in German here and there (very basic ones that even non-learners can understand within context), It's about a girl trying to find her origins, I can't say much without spoiling the thrill of the narrative, so really, I recommend it 100%.
