@Phoebe Caulfield how do you know?
@kianadoescod64022 жыл бұрын
@Phoebe Caulfield you can forget things in books. Doesn’t mean they haven’t read it. You wrote a thesis on it so you literally broke down the whole book. Some of us just read to read. When you are writing something based on the book you are more likely to pick up on things and remember thing especially if you’ve written notes on it. And when you start another book before making a video on the old one you forget details. It happens.

Born a crime by Trevor Noah is lovely! If you can, get the audiobook. It's somewhat of a mix of autobiography, coming-of-age and comedy. Trevor Noah tells us stories about his childhood in South Africa, growing up in apartheid as the product of a black mother and a white father, his quest to find a place in his skin and homeland. Overall, the life he'd had and experiences shared are interesting, entertaining and in some instances thought-provoking. The title is also narrated by the author which gives nuance to the already great writing. Trevor Noah is a talented storyteller and speaker. It's no wonder he made a career out of it.

Jack! I always get a laugh, I love your wit, I always get inspired to read, and you’re feeding my passion for literature. Thanks for being awesome. While I was on my lunch, one of my coworkers saw me listening to the podcast you were on recently and asked what I was listening to. I explained & they said they wanted to get back into reading. We talked about books for a bit and I recommended your channel ! About to share with my sister who became a big reader. From 2nd-8th grade, I read hundreds and hundreds of books. Unfortunately I stopped, but all the while I still couldn’t get my sister to read anything. When I got a job, she got bored so she decided to read, funnily enough. Hi Jack: Loved the video and the nostalgia too! One thing I beg of your family, however, is to keep those books indoors. Garages are prone to moisture (even just from morning dew) and large fluctuations in temperature. Even with the bins you are using, eventually those books will end up softening and either falling apart, or worse, develop mould and be completely destroyed. While the house is not climate controlled like a specialist archive library, it is still a much drier and less environmentally damaging environment. Other ideas I thought about while watching: 1. For books you are willing to depart with, try asking Mom and Dad to make a regular contribution to your local Little library. Even though our town is a dot compared to Brighton and the surrounding area, we have no less than 3 Little Libraries and they are always looking for books to offer the local townspeople and visitors. 2. Our local train stations also offer Reading Shelves for commuters to pick up something for their journey, usually with only a request for a small donation in return. Both of these would give back to your local community and clear out some of the books you know, for sure, you won’t be picking up again or giving away as gifts. Looking forward to the themes you mentioned! Perhaps 2023 Jack Edwards first Fiction novel?? Loads of love, 🌹

As someone with ADHD, the only way I can make sure I actually read books I buy, and make sure they're not just sitting on my shelf for an eternity, is to make a list of books I have yet to read that I own, and even schedule by month and in order when I intend to read them. It's been going well so far, and I haven't strayed from my list because I know if I do, I'll either get distracted or forget or just lose interest in the books I skipped. So, I don't think it's dumb that you have a priority list. My list has allowed me to stay out of a reading slump I've have on and off for years, and it makes me feel productive and putting the money I spent on books to good use.

Your copy of Sea of Poppies looks like the previous owner put a Mylar protective sleeve on it (maybe because they’re a collector) rather than a plastic library one. If it has no tape holding the sleeve to the cover, and/or no library stamps in the book, then I’d leave it on because that’s archival quality protection. Look up Brodart to see what I mean.
