@kianadoescod6402
@kianadoescod6402 2 жыл бұрын
@Phoebe Caulfield you can forget things in books. Doesn’t mean they haven’t read it. You wrote a thesis on it so you literally broke down the whole book. Some of us just read to read. When you are writing something based on the book you are more likely to pick up on things and remember thing especially if you’ve written notes on it. And when you start another book before making a video on the old one you forget details. It happens.

Born a crime by Trevor Noah is lovely! If you can, get the audiobook. It's somewhat of a mix of autobiography, coming-of-age and comedy. Trevor Noah tells us stories about his childhood in South Africa, growing up in apartheid as the product of a black mother and a white father, his quest to find a place in his skin and homeland. Overall, the life he'd had and experiences shared are interesting, entertaining and in some instances thought-provoking. The title is also narrated by the author which gives nuance to the already great writing. Trevor Noah is a talented storyteller and speaker. It's no wonder he made a career out of it.

Jack! I always get a laugh, I love your wit, I always get inspired to read, and you’re feeding my passion for literature. Thanks for being awesome. While I was on my lunch, one of my coworkers saw me listening to the podcast you were on recently and asked what I was listening to. I explained & they said they wanted to get back into reading. We talked about books for a bit and I recommended your channel ! About to share with my sister who became a big reader. From 2nd-8th grade, I read hundreds and hundreds of books. Unfortunately I stopped, but all the while I still couldn’t get my sister to read anything. When I got a job, she got bored so she decided to read, funnily enough. Now i’m FINALLY getting back into books. Going into freshman year of college and am super excited to delve into so many stories once again. Long story long I love your content and my day is literally made brighter when I see an upload.

Hi Jack: Loved the video and the nostalgia too! One thing I beg of your family, however, is to keep those books indoors. Garages are prone to moisture (even just from morning dew) and large fluctuations in temperature. Even with the bins you are using, eventually those books will end up softening and either falling apart, or worse, develop mould and be completely destroyed. While the house is not climate controlled like a specialist archive library, it is still a much drier and less environmentally damaging environment. Other ideas I thought about while watching: 1. For books you are willing to depart with, try asking Mom and Dad to make a regular contribution to your local Little library. Even though our town is a dot compared to Brighton and the surrounding area, we have no less than 3 Little Libraries and they are always looking for books to offer the local townspeople and visitors. 2. Our local train stations also offer Reading Shelves for commuters to pick up something for their journey, usually with only a request for a small donation in return. Both of these would give back to your local community and clear out some of the books you know, for sure, you won’t be picking up again or giving away as gifts. Looking forward to the themes you mentioned! Perhaps 2023 Jack Edwards first Fiction novel?? Loads of love, 🌹

As someone with ADHD, the only way I can make sure I actually read books I buy, and make sure they're not just sitting on my shelf for an eternity, is to make a list of books I have yet to read that I own, and even schedule by month and in order when I intend to read them. It's been going well so far, and I haven't strayed from my list because I know if I do, I'll either get distracted or forget or just lose interest in the books I skipped. So, I don't think it's dumb that you have a priority list. My list has allowed me to stay out of a reading slump I've have on and off for years, and it makes me feel productive and putting the money I spent on books to good use.

would love to see a list of the non-fiction you're reading this year, trying to read more non-fiction at the moment I have 7 to read but want to go with one a month!

I told myself in December of 2021 that I wouldn't buy any books in 2022 because all the books I planned to read I either already own or the library has. Well... last week I bought The Song of Achilles at Walmart. I wasn't even there for books!! Every time Jack would talk about it in a video it just chipped more and more away at my book buying restraint, lol. I can't wait to read it. Thank you Jack for all the book recommendations!

I read The Maidens a couple weeks ago and I really enjoyed it! I would love to see you go for another Dark Academia inspired video (or aesthetics in general), because last one gave me so many good recommendations

BooksandLala has a similar video series on her channel where she watches 100's of "favorite books of 'blank' year" videos, and then picks the ones most mentioned to read in January. I think it'd be interesting to see your reactions to all the booktuber recs, a much different vibe from booktok.

Brother is one of my favorite books of all time. The feelings it gave me coming from a single mother household were overwhelming and somewhat comforting.

You're triggering my OCD with this video. The way you don't split the books you've read from the ones you still have to read is killing me 🤣🤣

i recently read if we were villains and it was just *chef's kiss*, and that's considering the fact that i only know basics about shakespeare, i think you're gonna enjoy it

You're my new favourite channel and you completely inspired me to not whine about all the books I want to read but just read. Which are the books you've re-read the most? I just started The Name of the Rose, would love to know your thoughts on that.
