You can add a custom boot logo to it as well instead on the stock szgh logo. I have the same controller on my mill and I have the model up with the c panel on my lathe

Nice tip, thanks. Great for adding a personal touch or the logo of your machine. The file exported when doing a backup, so should be easy to do.

Hello first congratulations on the very good video Secondly, I would like to know if you had problems with rotation and feed variation. Because I'm using a command like this and when I tell the plate to rotate it goes beyond the programmed value, the same thing happens with the advance, I tell it to advance at 300mm/min, it advances at 360mm/min, did you have this problem, could you help me solve it?

Hi I am not sure which axis you are having issues with. You mention "rotate" but then also mm/min. Could you ley me know if the issue is with the turret, spindle or X/axis?

Hey. I’m rebuilding my 120p and I’m very inspired by you. I looking for the turret board that you using for running the 24v motor. I gues I need to soldering my own board. Is there any chance you know witch parts and chematics it’s? Thx for nice job

Hi, unfortunately I do not have the schematics for this Emco board. There are also a lot of connections on the board that are not used in the new setup. If you were to make your own it should be possible with some experimenting and measuring. Most important is the double pole double throw relais. Then just connect the motor to it on one of the connections. And on the other set of connections your connect the motor with wires swapped and a set of power resistors in between the would give you around 10V over the motor. From what I can see in my case there are 4 resistors in series with the motor, but I think 2 or 4 of these are in parallel to eachother to reduce current over each resistor. Of you experiment a bit and measure current to see if they do not go over the rating of your resistors end of course measure the 10V over the motor it should work. This is all the information I have, hope you can get it to work.

sir, can this controller display visually the cutting process?

Hi, it can simulate the tool path, but no full stock removal simulation. So just a 2D line graph of where the tool tip travels.

Gr, Robin

How to I change the tool setter from the stock nc type to a no type? I'm not seeing anything in the settings
@uptimefab7412
@uptimefab7412 2 жыл бұрын
Hi, sorry for the late reply, I am on vacation for a few weeks so there might be delays in my responses. You mention tool setter, but I assume you are referring to the tool turret? In that case the inputs are simply changed in the Program tool file (downloadable from my website article). In case you have a NC sensor you can use "WAT-X1" to wait for a low signal. For NO sensors use + sign. If you mean tool setter, I don't know since I do not use a tool probe. Let me know if I misunderstood the question.

If SZGH is not providing an example macro, it might be worth looking into the information linked below. The post on the top of page 5 by "Hood" contains a zip file with manuals on how to program the SZGH macros. These documents are not shared on the official SZGH site as far as I know. The zip file also contains an example macro. This information really helped me with the tool turret macro. Of course I realize what you want to do with the macro is for a different purpose, but it could be helpful nonetheless. Note that the link to the zip file does not work on a phone, try opening the link on a PC. www.mycncuk.com/threads/14016-Hardinge-CHNC-Retrofit/page5

Hi, I am not using Mach3 at the moment, so I don't have any software settings for it. Please try machsuppport.com or cnczone forums, there should be more information available on those websites for mach3.

Where did you get the tool holders ??
@uptimefab7412
@uptimefab7412 2 жыл бұрын
From AliExpress, the link is included in the parts list PDF file in the article, see link in the description. The parting tool is not part of the set. Besides that I bought cutting inserts for aluminum, as the set contains inserts that are not so sharp and therefore more suitable for heavy cutting in steel. Also these are listed in the PDF.

Sounds like a nice project! And if you are able to reuse the hardware quite a bit cheaper. Good luck with the upgrade.

Ratchet is bad design, real CNC lathes use curvic coupling for repeatable tool indexing. Ratchet mechanism will never get the same accuracy of a curvic coupling.
@uptimefab7412
@uptimefab7412 Жыл бұрын
That is indeed a great way to achieve more accuracy. Much more expensive though, so I can understand that Emco went for the cheaper version for this lathe, used mostly in schools.

Will never get the same accuracy?.. First of all, this machine was designed for schools, not to be accurate, and second: Hold my Beer!.. i have a similar machine, and i mostly turn titanium on it.. according to EMCO this machine was designed for Non-Ferrous Materials... and indeed.. Titanium is Non-Ferrous.. (but that is not what EMCO meant..😁) as far as accuracy goes.. running a batch of 50 Titanium parts, all within 0.02 mm looks pretty damn good to me..

@@uptimefab7412 The EMCO Compact 5 CNC and all its "Children" eat Brass for Breakfast! as soon as i got it, i started making my own turning tools on it, made from 1.2510 steel Turning it Down to10 0-.01 to fix it in the Tool Turret.. i also made some grooves in them for the Grubscrews. I Retrofitted it with EdingCNC, and i first wrote a Macro that has dialogs for Facing, Turning, Chamfers, Fillets, Grooving, and drilling. I'm now in the process of writing my own Canned Cycles so i can program a Facing operation with M84: M84 X10 Z-10 D.025 F50 but if i add a C2 to it, it will make a Chamfer of 2x 2 mm in the corner, or With R2 it wil make a Fillet R2..if you omit D then it will only perform a finishing pass.. Titanium is the "bread and butter: for my EMCO Compact 5 CNC I hardly turn anything else..
