Hey Mandy. Please read this. I enlisted into the Marine Corps in September of 2019. As someone who was out of shape and in their late twenties, I was put into the delayed entry program where they prepare you physically until you’re ready to ship to recruit training. I remember sitting in my car one time feeling defeated after a workout with my recruiters because my physical fitness just wasn’t where it needed to be. I thought I couldn’t do it. But then I learned about your work ethic. You have some serious discipline. And so, after seeing your example, I kept at it. Kept showing up to brutal workouts. I fixed a lot of issues along the way, finished workouts with literal puddles of sweat on the ground, but I kept showing up. I leave for boot camp in July 2020. Wish me luck! Edit: Just graduated boot camp on Oct 16th 2020. Lima Company. Thanks again, Mandy.

I have battled addiction for many years which unfortunately was how I dealt with childhood traumas ... and of course this lead to many set backs, struggles, and many times of wanting to give up. But I have picked myself up and have been doing well for the past few years (I am now 26). I try to be a light in the world and kindness to people that need it. I try to use my knowledge of bad for good now. I use my negative and traumatic experiences to have compassion for those that are going through something similar.
