My name is Rob and I was born with a birth defect called Spina Bifida that has left me in a wheelchair all my life. For the last few years, I've been trying to write a screenplay. About a month ago I got stuck and I've been thinking more and more about giving up. And then I saw the America's Got Talent video where you tell the story about falling down the stairs and being faced with the choice of lying there forever or getting up and running. I'm making you a promise right now. I'm getting up and running. And it's because of you. My struggles lately have nothing to do with my disability, but nevertheless, you inspired me tonight. I'm grateful for that, and I'm grateful for you. I can't promise that I'll be as strong as you, but I won't stop running.

Great message, Mandy! You didn't give up, you had the support of your dad and you pushed through. You inspire me to believe in myself despite my illness, that I can be part of society again, doing something meaningful, if I keep on working on myself and believing in a better future.

I can't even comprehend the feeling of losing a sense. but to know that if there is a block there is a way around it. she talks like she never lost her voice and that is unbelievable but it is real and it is incredible.

This story was absolutely beautiful it was also very inspirational to everyone who is deaf and who wants to sing and they think they can't but in reality they can they just have to find the way to make it happen and that's very true and I feel like someone like you should teach them that because you went through that you wanted to try to sing again and you did and you're absolutely amazing at it and all we can do is just hope that everyone else that is deaf if it's women if it's men if it's boys or girls we need to help them know that they could still sing even though they're completely deaf or partly deaf it doesn't matter if you went through it and Conquer your dream then so can they with singing that's what I believe anyway and I hope that that's what you were trying to say too because I think it really was thank you Mandy Harvey for letting yourself be a part of the singing community and helping other people try to feel better about it too and also telling us and feeling comfortable about telling us the story about when you first became deaf and what you had to go through and I bet it was very very hard and I love you for that it's so cool that you were able to do such a thing because you are the first that I've ever seen who was able to come back to singing and being perfect at it what and the hardest part for me to wrap my head around was and still is that your deaf being deaf must have been the hardest part after you loved singing even before you were deaf so thanks to you letting you do what you wanted to do which is singing thank you because if you don't know already every single person that knows you absolutely loves you in some type of way doesn't matter if they know you from KZbin or social media or if their family we all love you

Beethoven grappled with living in the 1800s when few understood deafness, hindering his ability to communicate, work as a musician and even find a place to live. How he dealt with this deafness is one of the great stories of humanity, not just of music.Beethoven began losing his hearing in his mid-20s, after already building a reputation as a musician and composer. The cause of his deafness remains a mystery. A common question is how Beethoven continued composing without his hearing, but this likely wasn’t too difficult. Music is a language, with rules. Knowing the rules of how music is made, he could sit at his desk and compose a piece of music without hearing it. His famous Sixth Symphony also reflects his different life in deafness. Also known as the Pastoral Symphony, the musical work conveys the peace of the countryside, where Beethoven escaped city life after losing his hearing. In terms of his deafness, this was a very important symphony, reflecting the importance as an individual to keep his sanity by being in the country. “How delighted I shall be to ramble for a while through bushes, woods, under trees, through grass, and around rocks” - Beethoven in a letter written in May of 1810. This and other pieces from his soundless years reflect his incredible grasp of composition. Beethoven was a master of the language of music, which is about the creation of sound, not about listening. Thank you for coming back to youtube.
