Fantastic video! One of the best I have seen. My new battery installation took just over an hour thanks to this video. Thank you! As for the battery registration, I found an obd2 device with battery coding on Amazon for $90. All in, it was still 1/2 of paying someone to do it.

Thanks! That made the whole process easy. I ended up having to do this away from home and was able to do so and get back to operation. The last start in the morning worked fine, the next start in the afternoon the battery didn't have enough umph to turn the engine over. I was surprised at the sudden failure, standard lead acid batteries fail more gradually and give some warning. I was able to jump start but even after charging the OEM battery couldn't start a warm motor. The new battery started it just fine. Now I just need to find a shop to get the charge module reset for a new battery. Thanks again for making a comprehensive, easy to follow video!

Thank you so much for the video! In a 2017 Countryman you also have to remove the square crossbar to get the tension strut out.

I do not have the little black piece for the vent hose. Is it absolutely necessary that I get it to connect? Or can I still drive it?

Question : does the battery vent tube stay unconnected on the opposite side? (One side is installed into the battery and the other side Is just shoved behind the battery but not connected to anything) just confirming :) thanks! Very helpful video!

Hi - Thanks for watching! The other end is connected to a port to vent battery gasses out of the vehicle.

Thanks for the video. Really helpful. Was it an 80Ah battery for the f54 Clubman?

Hi - Thanks for watching! The correct battery depends on the engine size. We recommend that you check the vehicle owner’s manual for the correct battery for your vehicle.

Please be mindful that when you use a memory saver through the OBDII port or back feed from anywhere that the positive cable lug is LIVE and cannot touch any ground or metal. I put a sandwich bag on it and tape to make sure it does not touch ground.

I am sorry but i think this is a ridiculous design by the German engineers. It is purposely designed to deter owners from changing the battery themselves. This is one reason I don't care for German-made automobiles.

Is it required to have a memory saver

Yep. Never seen such a ridiculous setup. I have one and am debating doing it myself or not.

Nicholas, if I could change the battery, you can too. Just need to be patient and act like you enjoy it. Hey, I saved $280 changing the battery myself. 😂

It isn’t designed to be difficult on purpose. It is for packaging purposes. It is not difficult, a few bolts and trim removal.
@strawhatgolf Жыл бұрын
Who the hell though it was a good idea to design the battery housing below all these other components? Idiocy

I said the same exact thing! It’s like they went out of their way to make it almost impossible for the average person to change the battery.
