My geography teacher has a 2012 Mini Cooper with a naturally aspirated 120bhp engine and a 6MT, and can sprint from 0 to 100kph in 8.8 seconds (making it quicker than a 123bhp Fiesta).

I owned a couple of the 'classic' Minis back in the 80's and they were incredible handling fun cars on the twisties but given the modest power and that 4 speed gearbox back then never really had a chance at some really higher speed spirited driving unless it was tuned a lot. I've yet to drive a 'modern Mini' even though the classic was discontinued ~20 years ago. I still want to drive a newer model. From the video the 5 door comes with shopping and gubbins in the back 😊 but that should be a removeable no extra cost option. It's odd but I don't associate a Mini with a diesel engine so like you I think if/when I test drive one it would be a petrol version. I love the retro style switches that look like a cast off from some fighter plane and that they engineered the cart like handling into the new cars. I'm not sure I want to give up my 4x4 SUV for one so it would have to be a second car. We shall see. Keep up the great reviews Bex.
