Awesome beard man!!!... Also cool video. I just bought a 2013 R56 back in December 2018. I also have a 2014 countryman... I became addicted to minis after purchasing my countryman back in 2014 lol. But on the R56 I discovered that secret compartment on accident and thought I'd broken something at first lol. I have both of my minis coded. I also have the one touch sunroof feature coded so that I don't have to hold the button until it opens or closes completely. I love it! I have the mini connected on both cars too, and purchased an interface device to install a backup camera and also to cast videos and stuff to the screen via my chrome cast or just mirroring my phone. It's pretty neat. The repair part are super expensive like you mentioned but I'm so greatful to live next to an amazing mechanic lol. I purchase the parts and he fixes it for a fraction of what the dealership would charge. So, if you get a used mini get that sucka check thoroughly before buying... I had an oil leak... Ugh... But I love my little mini. Awesome video man.

As far as future plans for my cars, I added racing stripes and driving lights to my countryman, and then had it coded to where I can drive will all the lights on at the same time... So my car looks like an eighteen wheeler coming down the road lol lol... I'm thinking about adding racing stripes and driving lights to the R56 and driving lights. I'm not really sure. I look forward to more videos from you man... Especially tips and tricks when it comes to thinks like knowing when the clutch is going out, HOW TO WORK THE HEATER lol I still can't figure it out lol. I have the digital A/C but I just can't figure it out... Should I have the a/c button lit when I turn on the heat or not? Lol. Also after driving the car how long do you wait before you turn it off. The raise up feature actually gets programmed into the car with software ! But the cheapest and easiest way to get things done is buy the obd2 system called “Carista” and you can make so many different changes to the car from lighting brightness so having the windows go up and down with the remote plus it’s super cheap and make sure you learn so many different features that are hidden in our cars that you would have never known!

I knew all these tricks but I just wanted to mention in case you have followers in the UK, that roll up feature is available to all UK production and sales Minis without having to code it. Also, the changing interior lights are only if the vehicle was originally built with the mini excitement package. That does come stock in all signature modes though. I’m upgrading my 2011 to 2019 next week 🙌🏽

@@DArias Hi my 2007 mini cooper has the key fob problem my key just stopped working all at once w My husband and son push started it with the clutch My son drove it home for me. since we thought the battery was It we replaced it both batteries were good. NOT THE BATTERY IN THE KEYFOB Anyway the remote works =it unlocks the doors it turns on the radio works put the key in push the button NOTHING

I did drive my 09 mini without key in the slot. Key há range about 50 meter...but remember to put the key back sometimes to recharge key battery

Just an update to the key feature, you don’t actually need to put the key in the ignition slot. I have a 2009 r56 cooper s and I can start the car without inserting key in the ignition at all key remains in my pocket the whole time

Does anyone have a clue why the rotors show rust, is there a way to remove the rust, I am concerned with putting any type of cleaner on them to remove the rust, as it might interfere with the brakes???? It looks bad, any suggestions?

Usually rotors show some rust when the car has been sitting a couple of days not being driven or when it rains or snows it can show as well tbh best thing to do would be just drive the car to brush off that layer of rust that shows ..as long as there’s no grinding noises or shuttering in the brakes due to it, it’s not a problem usually

I’ve got a Carly connected, I coded my 2008 to when I hold the block button the windows close and so does the sunroof. It’s the feature I use pretty much everyday 😂. I’ve had my mini 1 and half years and I learn new stuff about it all the time.

They can be reliable as long as you keep up on maintenance. Now my recommendation is get the r56 between 11-13 which comes with the n18 engine which basically corrected all the major issues the n14 has had. Now if you decided to get a 1st gen r56 with the n14 make sure it has had its timing chain services done because they suffer from timing chain issues and they also have a weak HPFP. Just make sure you know what you’re buying 👍🏽

Video was very helpful. I have a mini cooper s r56, it has the excitement package add ons. I’ll say all the features my car was built with..it has the ambient lighting, carbon fiber trim, front and back seat sun roof, 17” crown spoke r56 alloy rims, leather and material seat trim. Could someone please tell me why I haven’t seen one like mine on the road. I have only seen one similar to mine but it doesn’t have the ambient lighting and leather seat trim followed with material seats.

It also pops and crackles, but it has a standard exhaust and hasn’t been staged.. the car has just had, valve stems replaced, timing chain, heads, ignition coils, plugs.. major service basically and I’ve had a mechanic plug an OBD reader.. no faults, did they come out like this?

Make sure all the accessories go on for about 3 seconds then pop the key out and go to start it right away. If not you might have to trigger it by starting the car then turning it off quickly and then doing it. People have told me after starting it then taking the key out and pushing the button it has allowed them to do it the normal way from there on out

Just make sure to get regular service maintenance records so you know that the car was well maintained also check for supercharger services as well a lot of people don’t service the super charger and such which will cause it to fail especially when they don’t change the supercharger oil. Then make sure to check for the typical oil or coolant leaks etc. also if you’re getting a manual make sure the clutch is in good shape because clutch jobs in minis are very pricey!

I'm not sure on a manual, but with my 2010, all I do is hop in the car, foot on the break, and hit start. Once. Engine starts right up. My keys are in the pocket.

I just purchased a 2015 mini countryman S all wheel drive. The car is pristine there is no smell of any dampness or mold or mildew inside the car or the trunk not the rug or the seats but inside the window seal it smells moldy and mildewy. I hear ya man.. it’s really hit or miss I have a buddy who has an 08 Cooper s with 188k miles on it never had one issues loll just oil changes etc no timing chain problems what so ever car runs strong still .. then I have another friend with a stock 10 Cooper s that had an engine rebuild done around 30k miles due to the timing chain guide snapping

@@DArias I got lucky. My timing chain guide snapped and went in the engine. Pulled all the bits out of the engine and refitted with a new timing chain kit. I was amazed it was still working. It's on 89k miles and the gearbox is all kinda of funky
