I lost my dad back in 2006, he was instrumental in my love of vehicles and that love will never die. Us petrol heads always have a spark that ignites our passion for cars and yours seems to be enduring. @@djoetma Look at the credits after the ending. It's literally Chris and Neil with two other people, that's it. This is basically the people from Chris Harris on Cars plus another person or two. It is Chris Harris on Cars just on a different channel. The Top Gear TV stuff uses a massive crew.

For those not fortunate enough to have grown up on proper Minis. Let me explain how much fun they are. In the sixties when the Cooper's came out, lot's of Formula 1 drivers bought them as their daily drives. That tells you all you need to know.

Couldn’t agree more, I bought my first Mini in 1967. It was a 1959 Austin Seven (as the first ones were named). Then in 1969 I bought a 1963 Mini Cooper in Almond Green/Old English White, that car was so much fun and never let me down. I’m currently searching for one or an ‘S’ to enjoy in my late years before the clock stops ticking. Great cars that have become one of, if not the most iconic of British motoring heritage.

My first car was a 1960 mini 850. and I thrashed it mercilessly. Loved it. Since then I have had a further 6 Mini's, and loved all of them.

Yeah…we’re a funny bunch over here …we don’t have the space to race like say in Oz or Stateside so no huge Baja races etc….but we do love our ‘motors’/ motorsports so make up for it with these sorts of shenanigans lol 🇬🇧…if you haven’t watched it yet, check out BTCC (British Touring Car Championship races) from the 1980s and before….pretty much all the road going cars our mums and dads drove, yet racing around the tracks across the country…lots of ‘rubbing’ etc hahahaha

Brilliant film, that is what Mini’s were made for-racing, and Chris is the best journo around to appreciate them. Respect for continuing with this so soon after loosing your mum Chris, but what a brilliant tribute to her. I am old enough to remember Gerry Marshal monstering an 850 mini around Brands Indy circuit and setting the outright 850 lap record-anyone who remembers Gerry will know he was a BIG man......

This does remind me of the pick up l had in the late '70's . I bunged a 1300 out of a scrapper into it. With the smaller wheels it was a hoot ! Over took a friend on Shaldon bridge and he said he was doing 90! But overtaking a newish Triumph Stag up Telegraph Hill with an upright piano tied in the back and my wife holding our daughter in the passenger seat ! Something l will never forget ! Thanks Chris .

Chris Harris gentleman and genius. I’ve been privileged to follow you from your Autocar days; a truly inspirational and talented journalist and driver. You make it look easy. But like all mega talented people that’s undoubtedly because you work so hard whilst also being the bloke at the bar in the local who’d happily chat about anything. I remember a very early video of yours where you were “analysing” which shoes to wear for a first drive and that’s before you drove and F40 against an F50. As I said....genius. I don’t know you or your your family but hearing about your mum’s passing brought tears to my eyes. I have no other words other than to offer my condolences. It’s wonderful to hear that she raced minis. Mother and son. X

Love Chris Harris videos and love the Mini! After 2 false starts my first car was a 1976 Mini that, after 4 engines ended up with a 1300cc Metro engine. The best way I could describe an 18 year old me drive it was “fearless”! Great fun. It started my car obsession. I have a tuned R53 Cooper S now as a toy and it reminds me of my original car albeit more portly. So sorry to hear about your mum Chris, take care.

Still fantastic little cars, had a Cooper back in 72 and 73, if I remember correctly the power output was 55 bhp, and the Cooper S was around 70 bhp. So the fact they are managing 130 from them nowadays shows how engine tuning has developed!

I don't suppose you read these but it struck me as an interesting coincidence coming from our favourite automotive reviewer... my mother passed away on March 1st and she had two original minis, which kick-started my love of cars at a very early age. I saw a wonderful video on KZbin of Nick Swift racing a Mini against an Alfa GTA. Amazingly talented driver and gave that Alfa a run for its money! Best racing I've seen in a long time. Great content

So sorry Chris I've been there recently. You are doing a great job at my dream job. Working sometimes for me helped to mitigate sorrow. It will take a while to lower the hurt but it never really leaves you. It is my experience. Everyone is a bit different. Keep moving forward. All the best.
