This video sparked something in my brain about mini coopers. I always looked at them as "girl cars". As I've gotten older I've learned to appreciate differences in all sports cars. Last week I drove 2 hours to buy a 2006 r53 mini cooper with a 6 speed manual transmission that had a bad clutch. I plan to get it back on the road as a daily. Once I get my truck and muscle car finished I may build the mini to a jcw spec for street and possible track days. Thanks for the awesome video.

Great driving skills! I have a 2005 Cooper non-S and I love driving it! Minis are not like other cars, they have a very specific character. Driving a Mini feels like you're driving a kart or something, very lively.

Very good driving! Few times could have shifted down to 2nd..but overall very nice! The balls you had to keep "flat-footed" around 4:30 was AWEOME! Well done! Love my R53 with 15^ RMW Cam, Exhaust, BBK (TSW),, Koni Yellow and TSW springs, and RMW RSB. Next headers and Big Valve RMW cam...then SPEC clutch and Alum FW. Thanks for the Vid!

Brakes(brembo 4 pot with cooper painted over), cylinder head, suspension, bodykit, premium interior/gadgets, wheels, tires, comp tune with drop in cooper filter. I'm not a JCW owner but a 2013 cooper S owner. I never understood dumping money into a JCW GP I would rather buy a Cooper S and throw my money at it how I see fit. I would modify a cooper S and DD a JCW. Making a JCW GP go faster is a waste of money imo. It's like buying a integra type R and changing everything that makes it a Type R..

Verrry nice driving mate 👍 Just to clarify the biker didn't cut up the car at any time !! He was on the racing line doing his thing its upto the person who's doing the overtake to do it cleanly and safe if the biker was slightly of the racing line then the driver should wait. I've got both a car and a bike and I've been on this track twice and it's so busy with other cars and corners you havnt got time to watch your mirrors all the time which is why the rule is there !! Before you comment guys try getting track experience and then you will understand 👍

I completely agree on the 40k comment, however that is for the new R56 GP with the turbocharged engine. This is a supercharged R53 GP which I believed retailed new for 32K or so. Still a lot, but much easier to swallow and more in line for the upgrades.

Although this GP must have more than an aftermarket steering wheel (based on the engine noise) I am a lucky owner of one of these mini muscle machines. Have had it since new and have had the pleasure of kicking ass with 500hp Z06 vettes and the likes at Elkart Lake and Blackhawk Farms Raceway. The car is a shifterkart with turn signals. Great Car..!!!

Engine in R56 was made by BMW and PSA Peugeot Citroen together, its not just tweaked peugeot engine. Engine block was developed together with Peugeot, than BMW provided a technology, like twin scroll turbo, valvetronic, direct injection and who know what else. So today it could be called BMW engine( and i think BMW use this engine in 116i, but I'm not sure about it) But you're right about tritec. Which is great by the way(I love my Cooper R53).

funny the bike was driving around for some scenic tour (not even close to the limit when cornering) and easily kept up with the most expensive supercars. I have seen some videos here from serious bikers who raced on that circuit...its like this video, but on fast forward. Anyway nice driving and you showed that the driver is much more important than the vehicle.

+Luis Billaud Sounds like it has a very unrestricted exhaust so probably a tuned header, and full race exhaust, probably only one muffler. Also sorta seems like he has a cam shaft to me. Hard to say but it does sound like it comes on cam around 4800 rpm.
