GOD I LOVE THIS. What lots of people don't think about is how light that car actually is. And 500 hp might not be SUPER impressive to some people used to watching Jay's show (having some 1000 hp and up cars) that's impressive for a little mini. Not to mention whenever you do a 2 engine car, the torque to hp ratio is just unbelievable. I bet that thing pulls like a beast. So awesome.

I keep hearing that word "budget"... and keep seeing carbon fiber pieces on a race-spec Mini with two engines... must be one hell of a budget.
@arriviste202011 жыл бұрын
You can buy sheets of carbon fibre and build virtually anything you like!(common sense being the driver) Building,(and fitting) a roll-cage yourself can save a lot of money. The rear engine and tranny unit? Who knows where he got them.....a salvage yard,insurance write-off etc? You can save money by doing as much work as you can personally. Buy a Caterham-7 right out of the box as a kit, and see how much money you can save. Time is the greatest outlay, and I can tell you, working on any project like that in the video is very hard going.I'll bet he had a lot of help.::)

I think he said that because it would be a lot cheaper and less complex to buy a single engine that makes 500 horsepower. However, this really isn't the case because it was cheaper to buy an additional 250 horsepower engine than to scrap the engine already in the mini and buy a 500 hp engine. I suppose he could have sold the engine out of the mini to offset the cost of a larger engine, but the cool factor goes way up when you have two motors.

you have misinterpreted the word budget, i posted this reply to another guy so i'll paste it here too for your knowledge! :) Most of it is carbon fibre, however 2 things you must consider.. 1. carbon comes in many different grades and qualities 2. the word "Budget" does not mean a small amount of money but money he is willing to spend or has set aside for the project ;) you can have a budget of 100 or 1000,000 ^^ Just think of it like this. Every engineering project ever carried out has been assigned a budget, it's how people manage costs and keep on top of their spending so everything is affordable. Budget is also sometimes a joke word used in the industry for when something is ridiculously overpriced but "it's all in the "budget"

Tom Hornsby You say that as if it is impossible for those two engines to perform similarly to one large one. If you wanted the larger engine I wonder how it would fit in that shoe box. Also since you are not the builder, how do you know he paid for that hatch or even what the amount was? You have a lot of assumptions which is dangerous for your argument.
