MINI Cooper S R53 Supercharger Inspection

Today I drained the oil in my MINI Cooper S R53 Supercharger and inspected the gears. Whilst the oil was low, luckily the gears are still in good condition!

After inspection, do you need to use blue RTV gasket seal? Also what are the specs when Re-tightening the bolts? PTO side & snout/pulley side please... Thank you Great vid

I used loctite 574. Can't remember the torque. I want to say 20nm but don't quote me!

is it difficult to put the gear covers back? I just removed my supercharger and it was completely dry on the opposite side of where the water pump is located. I wanted to take a quick look but i was afraid i was going to mess something up inside since I've never had a mini before.

I'm currently in the process of this - not difficult to put the covers back but it has to be properly sealed with an anaerobic sealant such as Loctite 574 on the clean contact points. If yours was completely dry on the opposite side (after how many miles?) then you may have an issue with the seal and need to address that.

Will Bradley thank you for your reply. I had to replace my supercharger, water pump and a few other bits. Water from the water pump got inside this side of the SC and it was super rusty. Beyond repair. :(
