Looks good. I just installed a rebuilt supercharger and while I was at it I replaced the water pump with an electric one. This gets rid of the issue of the rear PTO gears eating each other which then stops the water pump. It also makes the engine a bit more responsive and because it continues to run a couple of minutes after you turn the engine off helps with cool down. I've found it a worthwhile mod.

Just a top tip.... (Not to undermine Mod A Mini these guys are great) But its highly advised to take the front and rear casings off of the supercharger inspecting the gears and thoroughly washing the chambers of any debris and old oil and not just doing the basic drain and refil through the plug hole
@ModAMiniGarage3 жыл бұрын
Hi there, thanks so much for this! We agree somewhat with what you say but not entirely... if you were to open the screws on the charger and no oil come out or VERY minimal, then yes take the housings off and check the gears and rebuild as necessary. If plenty of oil comes out then we strongly suggest the seals aren't broken and they are topped up as per the video. This is recommended by most and Eaton themselves! Only exception to this would be if loads of oil comes out but the supercharger was noisy beforehand and or doesn't feel right when turnt by hand. I hope this helps, Miriam xx

Fill the seringenand the tube, herbal the air out, the empty the syringe through the pipe. You end up with a filled pipe. Turn the syringe and tube tip up, pull back the syringe till all oil is in the syringe and tube is empty. Read the scale, you now know what volume the tube has… Or: (Work in cm) Length of tube x pi x innertubediameter x innertubediameter / 4 = tube volume in ml
@michaelking424 жыл бұрын
Great video, thanks for making it. I really like how well you cleaned the SC. When you were talking about the contents of the tube attached to the syringe...I don't think you have to make allowances for how much oil is in the tube, as when you push the contents of the syringe into the SC, I think you'll see there is still oil in the tube. Does that make sense? Awesome work, thank you. I will use your videos as references for when I'm getting into the engine on mine. Mine's an 06 JCW, which I just bought a couple of weeks ago.

Hello. I have a 2005 Minicooper R53, automatic transmission. When I turn on the air conditioning, the automatic transmission goes crazy and then turns off the engine (in motion). I turn off the engine, wait a while and continue normally with the air conditioning off. Have you ever heard of a similar case? Any idea what it could be? Note: with the air conditioning off, the automatic transmission works normally.

So if the kit recommends to fill until oil comes out, wouldn’t out be better to put the supercharger horizontal position then fill to make sure it’s filled to the proper level? On my last mini I put in the 140ml and 40ml but on my current mini I think I’ll try it this way. Thanks for the video I learned something new again.

random question the waterpump you put back on was slighly different to the one you removed. i.e the end which goes into the engine block, did you have any trouble when refitting?
@ModAMiniGarage4 жыл бұрын
Hi Lennie, no we haven't had any issues at all, in fact we have used 10 or so of these pumps now with no issues whatsoever :) When you buy a waterpump there are 2 different types... Some come with the housing, and some dont, they come with a gasket instead. If they come with a gasket you expected to use your old housing which is held on with torx bolts. I have used a pump without a housing twice and on both occassions the torx bolts that hold it on have rounded off, making it hard to change and re-use. Now I ensure we buy ones that come with the housing. It makes the job easier, and you dont have to faff around with it, they are however a little more expensive to buy. We use the Circoli brand from Euro Car Parts. I hope this helps. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment, Miriam xx

Yea sure so the kit we sell has: the shell turbine oil, the green supercharger seal, the supercharger horn gasket, crank o ring, waterpump o ring, silicone pipe for the bypass valve with jubilee clips, syringe for measuring the oil, a metric allen key for the filler bings on the charger amd instructions on how to do it :) its the same kit we used in the video :) i would also recommend changing the water pump at the same time just makes sense whilst you are there, All the best, Miriam xx
@@miniworxx2016 Thanks. I've seen some other options on this side of the pond as well. I don't need the horn gaskets - they were replaced in December of '19. Might do the water pump - it was replaced ~30k ago, but in 2010. I do want to replace any parts that are accessible with the car in front end service mode. I've done that before, but I don't want to do it any more than I have to!

Too loud Musik over the voice… Not swapping the o-rings seems like minimal savings but a problem with a leak would kill the supercharger. Is that worth the risk for two o-rings.
