Smart idea, and very useful for someone that doesn't have a full size tablesaw that needs a small crosscut sled.

I find myself going for mini sleds 90% of the time. Since my compound mitre saw takes a minute to pull out from the wall and hook up the vacuum and plug it in, it is faster to use the tablesaw I am already probably using to cut things. I love mini-sleds. Thanks for commenting and watching!

@@SmallWorkshopGuy I built a portable folding tablesaw that was built for use with a circular saw. The circular saw is mounted on a removable insert that once it's removed, allows the table to fold completely flat. Even though the table is built pretty stout, I wouldn't want to use a full size sled on it, so your mini sled would benefit me too.

Thanks. Came down with Wuhan virus so finally went down to the wood shop and made my two match fit crosscut sleds (L and R of blade). You have given me some good ideas here so thanks. I had the matchfit starter kit since November. Glad to see the usefulness demonstrated. T-bolts? You want to be a little more specific? Keep putting vids out. They are simple and very useful.
@SmallWorkshopGuy3 жыл бұрын
You can use jigs designed for T-slots by using an angle grinder to make the end bolt just a little bit more narrow.

I have not bought the dovetail clamps yet, but this kind of teaching will help to speed up the process

Yeh, I have 6 clamps, but I am using them in so many jigs, I may buy more

@@SmallWorkshopGuy Bought the Clamps, they are very nice, will have to buy more as I see the usefulness of them, I read something about them being redesigned from the earlier ones to fit the track better and mine to slide great, I'm revisiting your videos for ideas, thanks.

This looks useful! Now for a newbie question....when your angle grinder sparks like that...are the sparks a fire risk on a wood workbench? Or possible risk of pain/injury to your hands/arms? I am only referring to an area completely clear of flammable finish or other flammable substances. Just wood. Thx.
@SmallWorkshopGuy4 жыл бұрын
Definitely a fire risk, particularly if you run the angle grinder for a prolonged period of several minutes. You are right - flammable finish or liquids should be moved out of the area. Personally, I have watched several angle grinder safety videos since doing this video and have changed some of my procedures - now use face mask and heavy gloves and make sure area where sparks are flying are clear of most wood and debris. And now I also set up my metal cutting vise on sawhorses out in the driveway. My theory is you cannot overdo safety ever. Of course, you have to learn it first!

What are the dementions of this sled? How is the fence attached? I want to build one. Thanks
@SmallWorkshopGuy5 жыл бұрын
Sled is probably about 20 inches wide and 15-20 deep. Look at the video at 1 minute 10 seconds to see how fence attached. Fence simply glued to a slightly wider support piece of hardwood that has an internal slot in it to accept the T bolts. I use thumb screws on the t bolts to align the fence and lock it down.

How do cross cut sheet goods at 90 degrees accurately?
@SmallWorkshopGuy4 жыл бұрын
Different subject - this mini sled for cutting small workpieces. To cut down sheet goods, I use a diy track guide for my corded circular saw.

"Dovetail" is misspelled in the title. :)
