This video shows all the steps I took to fabricate and install graduated dials on the mini lathe cross slide. The setup used to set 25 positions on my spin indexer was very creative. Take a Look !!

Joe: Love your projects and the skills you pass along. Speaking of passing along skills: Quick way to get any number of equal divisions between two points, like that construction paper you used, is to draw a line (in this case at pi*diameter of your dividing head) perpendicular to the base line (where you marked divisions using data from excel). Place a ruler with zero in the corner (lower left on your construction paper) and swing the right end up at an angle (hypotenuse) until the number of divisions you want intersects the perpendicular line (for instance for a circumference of 20" and you want 25 divisions, swing the ruler until 25" intersects the perpendicular at 20"). Mark each nice even numbered division (each inch, in this example) along the hypotenuse. Make the marks along the hypotenuse perpendicular to the base leg. Use a square to drop each point down to the base. Just about every old carpenter uses this method to get perfect divisions without resorting to an excel spreadsheet and a magnifying glass to mark four decimals. Works amazingly well. Have fun.

Great video as usual. Here's a little white board job for one of your videos. Draw a right angled triangle without a hypotenuse with the base equal to the circumference of your spin indexer dial. Set your board compass to a radius that is easily divided by 25 but longer than the base and use that to set the hypotenuse from the end of the base to the vertical side. Divide the hypotenuse into 25 and from each of those marks drop a vertical to the base. You will have 25 divisions on the base without needing to calculate any numbers or use any special tools. If you do it on paper you have your required scale for sticking to the rim of the spin indexer. A useful technique for people who have not seen it before.
