Tragedies of WW2 aside, that rising sun Japanese flag looks great. I think MiniGT’s mistake is that the flag is on there as a default. I collect 1:18s and if model companies provide us waterslide decals that we can choose to apply ourselves (like what Solido did with the R34), I think it’ll be a great move forward in the diecast community

You say it's business, but in some countries it's unpleasant. And although it is said to be an insignificant sign, some Westerners are quite uncomfortable and sensitive to Nazi signs. It's the same for us too. The 卍 sign refers to a Buddhist temple or Buddhism, but some people thought it was a Nazi. That's really funny.
@lalalam48613 ай бұрын
Let's be honest for once. Wouldn’t you be angry if an Asian person wore symbols that would be offensive to Westerners, such as a Nazi flag or the N-word, on his or her t-shirt? Do you think this is also a business?
@abrahamlupis93543 ай бұрын
well, the rising sun flag is not offensive, is South Koreans who are making it offensive
@stebesplace3 ай бұрын
I'm super confused. I have many Min GT cars that have these flags from a few years back. Is it now only just becoming recognized? What about the older cars I have? Same with my Inno64 cars, same LBWK banner on the windshield of my resin ER34 models.
@jordadthinks3 ай бұрын
According to Wikipedia this flag is apparently meant to be highly offensive to Australians. I am Australian and am not offended and still think it looks pree cool.

Perhaps to the older generation?
@abrahamlupis93543 ай бұрын
no, is only offensive by south koreans, who are attacking anyone using the flag since 2011

Is that the Japanese equivalent of the confederate flag? Hold on to it, as it will become a collectable.

Why do they say destroy them ?All they need to do is take the decals off. They won't become a rare item, in my opinion, because too many have not been returned , so instead of destroying them, give people the option to buy either or, they might even sell more because people like to collect every variation.
@modelcarshouston3 ай бұрын
I'm not sure to be honest. Maybe it's easier to just make new ones?
@wayneclark37613 ай бұрын
@modelcarshouston surely easier to take the decals off and replace, probably quicker too,

I love the design for the rising sun flag though, people in 2024's just really sensitive. I have Kaido House and some Innos with the flag and it's a unique touch for them

I guess the goverment knocks your door once you become big enough businesses 😅 by the way Mini GT released many GTRs with a “half” of the flag on doors in the past just like this porsche by inno at 1:47 - is such thing also can cause issues?

As a retailer, are you required to destroy current models and those returned? It surprises me that a product made in and near China is reacting in this manner.
@gcntech90713 ай бұрын
I know it's just a hobby but it's the reason many scale hobby kits don't include the swastika symbols in ww2 German planes as well. For Chinese and Koreans the Japanese rising sun is the same meaning as for others the swastika. Personally, I own several MGT and INNO with these flags and the funny thing is that I bought them from Taobao online stores in China!!!

well even tho i am find with it (i have the very car with the flag), majority of the older generation asians whose country got invaded by japan are not happy seeing that flag. this is the equivalent of holocaust victims seeing the nazi flag from what I've heard and china still has lots of memories of japan being bad so obviously they dont want that flag on it

Correct, as time passes, more and more people will forget about it unless it's systemically learned throughout their upbringing and be constantly reminded of this.
