I have the same question. How is the hook attached to this style of fly?

Old school intruder rigging ala Ed Ward. He created a loop in the back. The leader/tippet runs through the eye through that back loop and then through some junction tubing (OPST carries it). A mono loop is used to tie the hook and then the junction tube attaches at the end of the shank. KZbin or Google articles about it to see photos and such.

Watch Scott Howells "how to rig an old school intruder" video. You use junction tubing off of the back of the shank. You can get them on OPST website. Hope this helps.
