It would be cooler if it gave the laser in the vertical direction as well, so you could find dead center.

I was wondering if it would work to turn the card 90 degrees to find that center a mark with a pencil, then turn it back for the horizontal.

I bought one of these a few months ago at Michael’s with a 40% off coupon and a $10 voucher. I had been addressing envelopes and kept getting my lines slanted a bit. This helps me immensely in keeping my lines straight when addressing envelopes. I also like using it for aligning letters or sentiments on my cards. But tools are very individualized and what works for one may not work for another. Use what works for you and enjoy your crafting!😁❤

I really appreciate your doing this video. Sometimes we think we need another item in our crafting when our old way is just as good or better. I will stay with my T square. It gives you something to press against and you know exactly that is it. Your video was indeed helpful.

I have had this laser device for a couple of years and like using it. I make a lot of cards, mostly birthday cards. But I prefer to use a T-square for cards. What I use this laser thing for is aligning a name and address on envelopes - it’s ideal for this purpose. I only wish it had a perfectly flat surface.

Well, now that I've watched the ENTIRE video lol, I gotta say, yeah, I still want it. I think it's use will be more gratifying as time and experience happen... One of the comments below had mentioned that she thought it should measure both vertical and horizontal planes, and I agree. However, I CAN see how to get by this issue. The other is the height problem - what if you measure where the line WILL be once you lay everything down and mark this with VERY low tack tape, and then lay the letters or whatever along the tape? Ya know, at least until they update the product to address this? I mean, there ARE ways to make this work as it is, but you KNOW they will HAVE to come out with another model.... Anyway, love it, loved your experimentation with it, it was very revealing! And now I'll go check out the rest of it, cost, availability, etc... Thank you much, stay golden darlin! 💕

I got the large one a few years ago. It was cumbersome and I only used it a couple times for what it was intended for. I used it more as a cat toy. My cat enjoyed chasing the Lazer beam more than I did for scrapbooking/ card making. My $1 "T" square has been a loyal tool. This one is 1 piece. It looks easier than the bigger one.

I bought a larger laser device several years ago to practice brush lettering. I think it’s useful because you don’t have to worry about the ruler/lettering guide getting in the way and you don’t have to erase a pencil mark. That said, your hand can get in the way of the laser, and I haven’t quite gotten the hang of it. 😂😂 I’m sure there are great uses for it. The lettering instructor that I saw use it is a pro with it!

Thanks for this, Cathy, my enabler. I wish they had two lasers in this but one is good. I can always use my T-square to help with positioning in the other direction at the same time. I like the idea of this and will give it a try as I found for a quite reasonable price so if I don't like, ehh, no biggy. I can always just use it to line up my card fronts on my bases as it smaller than the scoreboard that I currently use. I do wish they added score lines so this wasn't a one trick pony. BTW, If you put the batteries posts in first, you'll have an easier time of it.

I feel like this is better for hand lettering / calligraphy in getting your words on straight lines without having to draw and erase pencil lines, or having a ruler in the way. But for cardmaking and general paper crafts, I don’t know if this is “better than” a T-square ruler, as having the edge of the ruler to bump your die cuts against is more helpful than a light beam 🙃

Have this thing since quite some time - and totally forgot about it until I saw your video. So, guess that shows how often I use it. Like never. Also mine doesn't seem to keep the laser line straight, the knob kind of wiggles and that means, I can never be sure that the line is really straight. So guess that's another thing going into the purge it box. But your video was lots of fun to watch, as always!
