So pleased to see the mess your workshop is in. It makes me feel so much better about the mess I am in here. I remember you "new workshop" videos 😁👍 That is a nice looking Lathe 😍

Yes, it's amazing how effective camera angles are when hiding the mess! I didn't make it messy specially for the video but have tidied up a fair bit since. I have not had much chance to work with the lathe yet, but it does seem to be pretty good so far. Thanks 😀

Thanks 😀 I thought it was time to get a reasonable sized lathe which was in working order. I have another very old one about this size (as well the little one I have shown) but that is a serious rebuilding project and which really needed a lathe to be able to do anyway!😀

I think this is the first mini lathe I’ve ever seen that has a hand wheel on the lead screw! Do you use it much? I guess I don’t understand what the reason would be to have it there unless the lead screw wasn’t driven by the motor. My shop has 7 x 12, 7 x 14, and 9 x 20 lathes, and none have this hand wheel. Hope you’ve gotten some good use out of it!

No, the hand wheel looks good, but hasn't proved to be useful yet 😉. I tend to use the compound to advance into the work anyway, I suppose because I learnt on a very simple lathe which didn't have any power feed at all. Really hope to find time to do more stuff on my 7x14. Its a nice lathe and very capable for its size, I believe. At the moment I am experimenting with the 4 jaw chuck, and considering whether to get a faceplate for it, though my immediate needs for that might be solved by my little Wizard lathe (once I fix it 😀). Thanks 😀 👍

What method did you use for removing the shipping grease and re-lubricating it? Did it require much setup after installation to be accurate?
@mrrgstuff5 жыл бұрын
I used WD40 and a cloth to remove the shipping lubricant and 3in1 oil to lubricate. I haven't properly checked the accuracy yet, but it basically just all worked out of the box, at least as far as the basic turning I have done so far. I have not used the tailstock other than to set the height of the tool. I have a couple more related videos coming up fairly soon and hope to use it more over Christmas. 😀
