The Mini Mr Hanky is a great mouse pattern for big Alaskan Rainbows and large Carnivorous Brown Trout! The Mini Mr Hanky is a lifelike mouse pattern that fishes incredibly well (way better than it looks dry)!! In this video I am tying the "Mini" version, but there is a full size version that uses rabbit instead of the pine squirrel. Both are equally effective, but the Mini is very popular here in the lower 48. The Mini Mr Hanky is easy to fish, just quarter it down and across and "walk" (or wake) the fly slowly to the other bank!!

Do you cut the larger hook for any reason other than to have a single hook for regulations? I'd like to tie these up with single stinger hook like you showed, but also with leaving the hook as I've hooked up with big fish on both, but the fish do slash alot at these so if you can run two hooks it feels like the better option. Have you had issues with leaving in the larger hook?

I believe I'm only allowed to use a single hook on the creeks I fish in, here in Pennsylvania ... catch and release areas. I guess I could tie this on a light wire articulated shank, with a trailing hook only. I really want to tie some of these. I've seen a few vids with folks using this pattern. Thanks for the vid👍🏻✌🏻

Inverted hooks harm less fish in my experience and because often you use this fly to bounce over logs and sticks to make it look like a mouse on the move

Does the hook catch the tail mate ?

That doesn't even look like a mouse fish will never eat it

It creates the silhouette of a fury little critter and a Brown will hit it. Take my word for it. It's usually close to dark time when we use them.

LOL! Yea you're totally right, you should never fish them
